My apologies if this has been done, but I felt like doing this. Besides, I had a look, and didn't notice a thread on this.

Half-Life's headcrabs, Aliens vs Predator's facehuggers, System Shock 2's cyber-monkeys. Halo's Flood spore-thingys. These are all things I find really really annoying. Nothing like walking happily along when shwap a facehugger attaches to your face.

Zombies are pretty much the only things that ever worry me unduly - I don't know why - it's just because they're so wrong or something. Ha. I'm zombiephobic.

Now, I'm wondering what little creatures members of this forum have similar problems with.

besides, Unreal Tournament bots are the only pieces of code which I can truly hate like I'd hate a person. I can even say that Sapphire is a mean http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-furious3.gif in 2k4 who can't miss a shot

The Human Hive in Alpha Centauri. They are almost always the last faction standing, and they are a bitch to beat. All their bases have a perimeter defense and they churn out high morale troops like nobodys business. A war against them (and you WILL fight them, sooner or later, they never stay as your allies for long) is a long, slow, drawn out war of attrition. I hate those SoBs http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Headcrabs? Meh, I figured out a simple way to kill em. Equip your knife/crowbar and wait till they're close and just about to jump at you. Time it just right and you take em down with one swing of your melee weapon of choice. I found it quite therapeutic http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Ah, my dear friend chairman Yang. Always polite, always smiling in his friendly Chinese manner and always working to exterminate you. An excellent example of a foe I love to hate, as opposed to really hate.

These ceiling-mounted things in Half-Life with their tounge that grabs you and pulls you up to their mouths is an example of an enemy I really hate and wish wasn't there. They're usually easy to deal with but they're so damned disgusting.

Enemies I love to hate: Hammerites from Thief as quoting scriptures at me while bludgeoning me to death with a large hammer is not nice. Those protocol droids in System Shock 2 because they are so polite while they hunt you down. Robot midwives from SS2 because they are so utterly creepy. Shodan from SS2 - what a villian

Enemies I hate to find in games: spiders, especially giant ones because it is such an overused, bad idea with no redeeming features. Ditto zombies and insect enemies of any variety. Rats, I hate spending the first few levels of most RPGs killing and being killed by rats, how can a rat kill a human in combat? Those monkeys in SS2...so creepy, the monkey noises coupled with exposed brains and psionic powers :shudder: I hate them.

Aside from that most games enemies don't make much of an impression on me.

Night elves on Battle.net in WarCraft III... noob race -_-;

Cows from the cow level in Diablo II... funny yet strong. Nasty http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-speechless.gif

Nemesis in Black & White, having each and every advantage over you in Land 5, which made it very hard.

Enemies in Metroid Prime in the dark... scare the crap out of me when they jump out from nowhere http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Since it doesn't work very well out of context here you go, a very short and bad Thief story featuring Hammerites:

It was a simple job; break into a warehouse by the docks with the aim of liberating as many small, valuable items as possible. The job was, Garrett reflected wryly, far beneath his skills, but even a master thief must pay his rent and business had been slow of late. A final check of the immediate area revealed no one present. With cat like grace Garrett dropped from the stack of crates he was perched on and ducked into the shadows. Alert for the tiniest sound Garrett waited…waited, until he was satisfied no one had overheard his nearly noiseless drop. Crouched low he inched forward, making no sound at all, he ignored the chest nearby – he had his professional pride and even on a job like this he wouldn’t touch such an easy option, a quick glance had told him even a child could pick that lock. No, he would make this easy job a touch more interesting; he would break into the well-guarded warehouses and loot the offices themselves. The distant sound of whistling drifted on the night’s still air, in a heartbeat Garrett had vanished into the shadows, noiseless and nearly invisible. In the dim lighting a guard slowly came into view, walking from the side door of one warehouse over to the crate pile Garrett was hiding in. Garrett’s lip curled in derision, the guard was decked out in a brightly dyed purple and yellow tabard, a victim of both bad taste and a beacon of obviousness even in the darkest of nights. After the Trickster no one presented a challenge, but still what could he expect? After outsmarting a God mere mortals could scarcely be expected to stop him. As the guard came closer Garrett weighted up his options, he could slip by the fool easily, from this shadow to the ones by the gate, and then on towards the door while the guard was at the far end of his patrol…but there was the matter of that dreadful tabard, crimes of taste such as that could not be left unpunished. Slipping his blackjack out as he went Garrett crept forward, staying deep in the shadow, safely hidden, and lay in wait. The guard, still whistling, strolled up to where Garrett was hiding, and then on past. As quick as lightning Garret sprang from his cover and rapped the man on the back of the head with his club, with a muffled grunt the guard dropped unconscious to the ground. Grabbing the man by the legs Garrett dragged him out of view and stuffed him behind a crate, “Pleasant dreams, next time wear something tasteful.” quipped Garrett as he left, moving slowly but confidently through the now unguarded shadows towards the side door of the warehouse. As he got closer Garrett could make out two figures near the door, one was just a civilian, a rich one too by the cut of his clothes. The other figure wore bright steel plate armour with red markings painted lovingly on the breast plate, if that wasn’t enough of a give away the large war hammer the man carried identified him as well as a large written sign. “Hammers, I hate Hammers” grumbled Garrett, “Them and their holier than thou attitude and God given vendetta against thieves.” The man in the rich clothes left and went into the warehouse through the door Garrett was planning to use, the Hammer began to wander in Garrett’s direction. It seemed, thought Garret, a God given opportunity to take a little revenge for all those taffers who had fallen foul of these zealots and their insistence with policing the City. Carefully, so as not to draw attention with sudden movements, Garrett pulled out his shortbow and notched a broadhead arrow. As the Hammerite walked closer Garrett could hear him muttering a prayer, “Hammer, anvil, forge and fire, chase away the bluffed liar. Roof and doorway, block and beam, chase away the Trickster from our dream.” Garrett shook his head slightly in contempt – the Trickster was in no position to do anything with the fanatic’s dreams and little thanks to these overblown fools. While they had sat about praying he had taken care of the Pagan God. Well they did help a very little Garrett conceded, as he drew his bow, and took aim, but not enough and so I lost my eye and my pay. With a smile Garrett let the arrow fly. He stopped smiling when the Hammerite turned his head to look at something, causing the arrow to thrum past him harmlessly. By some bad luck the Hammerite has turned in Garrett’s direction, the man’s eyes widened as he spotted Garrett crouched in the shadows, and with a cry of alarm he ran to attack. Garrett swore and flung down his bow, fumbling to draw his broadsword. He managed to put up a weak guard just as the enraged man swung his war hammer at him. Metal clanged, and sparks flew of Garrett’s blade, which was not designed for such strain. The sound of ringing metal merely stoked the fire of the Hammerite’s zeal, “Let The Builder’s metal ring they doom” he prayed, swinging his weapon is a never ending arc, battering away at Garrett’s defences as the thief gave ground and tried to find a way to flee for his life, cursing his stupidity in not letting the Hammerite go unharmed. Just as Garrett was promising himself he would learn to fight like a guard if he survived this encounter the war hammer broke his guard and smashed into his ribs. “Feel the spike of they sin” exulted the Hammerite as the stricken thief crumpled slowly to the ground, dying. As Garrett’s consciousness faded he could hear the man gloating, “The builder’s hand strikes thee down at my call”, damn Hammers

Yes, the very beginning of the second mission in thief 2. It's a nice easy hammer example, Cragscleft required zombie navigation before I can run into some Hammerites to annoy and be killed by while noting down quotes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-grin.gif

Some of the critters/villains that I loved killin cuz they annoyed me so:

- Imagawa Yoshimoto in STW. Such a treacherous, land-grabbin' twerp (and a pretty crappy strategist as well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif).

- The Pope in MTW.

- Cliffracers in Morrowind (with permanent flight and 100%chameleon ability, and a very high marksman rating, I love taking them out with one shot from a great distance, as soon as I can see and hear them).

- Those spider thingies in System Shock II. Man, those things creeped me out.

- Antaran raiders in Masters of Orion II (until I develop the tech to capture their ships and steal their tech).

- Sarevok in Baldur's Gate. Jon Irenicus in Baldur's Gate II.

- The religious fanatic faction in Sid Meier's Apha Centauri (I forgot the faction name ... Believers? I modded my install into a Dune faction parallel, so I can't play the original anymore until I reinstall it).

- grenade-tossing Ogres in the original Quake.

- Inferno in Soul Calibur.

- Sand crabs in Half Life.

- the Zerg in the Starcraft series.

- The Federation in Star Fleet Command II (I favor the Romulans)

- Trelons in Planescape Torment

Yeah, i hate haunts/zombies from thief. i cant understand why exactly; im sure its the cramped passages, creepy music, and the fact that even though i know the harmless dead body probably is a zombie waiting to grab me, i still freak out when the stand up. undead notwithstanding, the freakiest creature is from that series is the golden boy machine. it scared the pee pee out of me the first time i saw it, and it gives me the willies every time ive run into it since.

other hated enemies:

-blackjack-proof guards - thief 2 (no one should escape my wrath)

-mongal horse archers, royal ghulam bodyguard - MTW
-Rakanishu, and the jungle pygmies - D2

Like playing against some idiot who is cheating or on your own team and just being an idiot, or using massive rush technics etc.

hehe, I love peacesim, they're great once when I played PD with my brother against 8 perfect peacesims the stupid kid drew a weapon, and then there was 8 yellow persons hitting so hard he couldn't see and pushing him against the wall.
Ofcourse I blew them all up with my Super Dragon, and he walked around like a drunk the rest of that game.

Don't know what they're called but Thief 2 ,had those kind of Zombie things in metal masks.
First time I saw one was when I opened a door to a crypt I think ,and one just pop-ed out and looked around.
First time a game made me jump.It looked around like some kind of insect ,the way it move about all hunch up ,but didn't seem to see me ,although I was standing right in front of the thing.
Gave it a whack with my sword anyway. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

yeagh.... the thief 1 zombies (go unconcious you maggot ridden ARGHH stop hitting me bad zombie bad...go dead damn it....what does it take to kill you.) were bad...the sound they made when you blew them up was nice though. The big mouth farting lizards were a joy to kill because they were just wrong too.

The servants in thief 2 also, and the builders children. The last level was the worst cos it has the special servants and new builders children, both of which are extra annoying and freaky. Fun to kill though.

Apart from thief....not much. Although I take a malicious joy in killing all of those weird stalked eyed Rakata in KOTOR, and mr no-jaw malak. Both are just wrong in some way.

That and the AWings in TIE fighter. Theres something just extremely enjoyable about blowing about some rebel wookie-lover up. by tricking them into flying into a starship because their fighter is so fast the AI can't always keep up...

Star Destroyers in X-Wing/Tie Fighter. It was fun to scramble around them, dodging turret-fire while dogfighting swarms of TIEs, just to deliver a couple of heavy rockets on their shield generators. Ok, it was fun while piloting a TIE Defender.
Ah, and that painful disappointment as a Star Destroyer jumped out of hyperspace right through your fighter... talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Bugbeasts and Haunts from Thief 1 were my worst gaming nightmare of all times, anyway.

I remember that There is nothing quite so painfully disapointing and yet so funny as spending ages slowly taking down the shields on a star destroyer, damaging the hull until a pair of heavy rockets will destroy the ship, then flying straight at the bridge to drop the rockets at close range while muttering things like Ha The entire fighter compliment dead by my hand, and barely a scratch on my ship I'm flying in good form today only to have the star destroyer enter hyperspace right as you fire the rockets. Getting rammed out of existence by that brigde you were targeting in such a show off way. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

The tana'ri that gates in at the end of BG1:Tales of the Sword Coast. Once I managed to kill it, with half of my party dead, and it respawned I have now assumed (for my own peace of mind) that it's bioware's way of saying it's the end of the game...
