This game is the silent winner among my game magazine staff. Fairly little advertisement done for this game has made it half visible for many, and now it is almost out, striking like a grenade. Check it out

Long way until Battlefield sequel, BF:V just came out, and sincerely, I don't know what are you referring to with BF 2; I thought the second part was supposed to be BF: Vietnam? Anyway, release dates are, if I am not mistaking, 4th May for the US and the 27th for Europe, so that is just around the corner.

Some info on BF2. And yes, it is a stupid name.

Thank you for the link, BKS, and yes, it is a rather poor choice for a name; well, probably only a working title.

To be released in spring 2005? Will I live that long? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

I think the full title is BF2:Modern Warfare. It is a fair way off, isn't it.

I have the demo installed but it's a nightmare to try and run the thing. It does'nt connect to a single server about 70% of the time. I think the game will get a lot of abuse from the demo if it works like this for everyone.

An issue that will, if it is to trust the developer, be fixed very soon. I'll just sit back and relax, waiting for the full version.

I just tried it again and again same result, can't connect to any server.

Did anyone else try the Soldner demo ?
If so please post your results.
I'd like to play it too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif

Theoretically, yes, 128, but I suppose we all know how that is probably something that will be playable only in theory. With significant raise of graphic details in the upcoming BF2 game, the connections would have to be insanely fast, not to mention the strength of the servers. But we can hope, can't we? I mean, 64 would be awesome if truly playable.

As for the commander feature, I am surprised it hasn't been introduced already, and I believe there is a fan made mo for BF 1942 with that exact feature implemented. Now that should significantly raise the tactical quality of the game and turn into something more inspiring than the mere pointless and mindless roaming all over the map that people tend to do right now.

Really? How was it? And what connection are you using? Oh, I sincerely hope it will work, but so far, everything that exceeds 32 mark has been a disappointment because the playability was strongly reduced. Fortunate are those with fast connections, DSL and above, I'm still stuck with an ISDN… And what about all those modem users? Oh, dear… http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

As I mentioned I did not have any lag at all. I am on 512/128 DSL. No network lag, no local lag at all. Well come to think of it I used to play Soldier of Fortune 2 on 64 man servers and no lag to speak off either, that was about a year ago.

I play Joint Ops quite often now. Have played with some peeps from the org already, check the screenshot thread. I only took 3 screens but hey gotta start somewhere.

Opened another thread for Joint Operations here. (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=33;t=17358;r=1;&#top)

Looking forward to some tips on getting connected to a server on Soldner, or a place where I could get some help.

It also states on their website that there are a lot of problems with the demo and people having trouble getting on a server, so guess you're not alone on that Sinan http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I found a download on Gamershell that says Fixed Version, though it also says Hopefully behind it LOL http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
But I'm downloading that one now so I'll let you know if it works Here's the link for it BTW:

i will buy it.....

but it wont beat battlefield.

its way too buggy as hell to even make that claim.

for instance today playing the demo my guy wouldnt stop firing, even when he ran out of ammo....

then he transported himself star treck style 40 foot under ground.

then half the people in the server crashed and my guy rematerialized on hard ground in the middle of a tree.

I am about to go for a ride to my friend's and get that demo that I was too lazy to download. He is an old BF maniac, but he didn't like BF:V that much, and now he is a Soldner fan to the bone. I can hardly wait to see what's behind all this.

The demo that Apache posted worked MUCH better and I had about 30-40 minutes of mostly bug free fun. This game has a lot of potential. I'll try to post back in a bit what I noted in the demo.

Even the fixed version is buggy.

out of 30 trys heres whats happened.

25 times the servers didnt even show up.

2 times the game hanged trying to join.

3 times ive gotten in game and then crashed out due to bugs, such as the tranporting through hills or server crashes.

I thought a demo was supposed to impress the customer?

well... ill wait a few weeks/months and wait for the Devs to actualy pull their finger out and fix the game.

Well, my 2 cents so far…

I had some twenty minutes free, so I installed the demo. I had no problems with finding nor connecting to servers, but the first one I chose, I was respawning at the same place all the time and got killed instantly by some spawn camper. I disconnected and searched for another one. On the other one I connected, bought some nifty weapons and began searching for the enemy. I've spent some ten minutes running over the hills, hearing distant gun firing, twice have some friendly tanks passed me by and I kept running and running… Then I was compelled to go, and I logged off, thinking how realistic size of the terrain must not necessarily be of advantage.

Stay tuned for more…

For you guys who want 128 soldiers in BF2 then get Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. It's based on Delta Force BHD from what I've seen and is awesome (but buggy from what I've heard).

It just got delayed so it's coming out in summer but currently they have 120-man servers up. I think they're trying to get it to 150 but I'm not entirely sure.

And about Soldner, I never got the demo to work.

Joint operations demo is worse than Soldners first demo....

the physics are a joke and its laggorific.

anyway... come 2005 BF2 will own all.

Have you ever actually played it? It has virtually no lag at all even with full servers It has a lot of bugs but remember it isn't coming out for several months. There is time for all bugs to be fixed (but who knows if they will...). It has a lot of bugs but has gameplay 50X better than BF 1942. That game just stinks... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-zzz.gif

Yes i have played it.

Didnt you notice the fact that 90% of the people who played it thought it was a aprils fool joke?

anyway 10,000 people playing BF with another 15,000 playing BF:V compared to the hundered playing joint ops = your wrong.

you know the commander feature. that is already in a HL mod.
i believe BF:V will be tearing up the market until HL2 comes out later this Year. and wins game of the year and crushes all competition in FPS market.

The HL Mod that the Commander Feature is in, Is Natural Selection, where they drop buildings and gear for alien fighting marines.
the aliens get upgrades they can research themselves, and are suited to close quarter combat where their extra damage and speed help them over ranged organised teams of marines.

one thing you won't often see in natural selection is a ramboing sucessful marine, they almost always get killed.
