Thanks to Lord Krazy and Borraca, i present to you the no dachi for mtw. instead of a messy screenshot i put all the files you need to see them for yourself in the test section here (http://www.totalwar.org/upload/MTWbeta/nd.zip). included is the actionpage and dity page to make them work. warning...before modifing, replacing, or removing any mtw file always make a copy. to see the no dachi you will be replacing the current peasant sprites.

this is by no means a shogun mod... the unit pics still look like peasants and the stats are still for peasents...but since making the unit graphics are very very very easy im sure we will see one soon http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

sry for duplicating threads but the images were slowing the old one down.

They may not be perfect perfect as I did not check every frame
but on initial inspection they are.

Stef if these sprites work in mtw then mtw sprites must work
in shogun you just have to reverse the process I guess http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

and stats?multiplayer department I think http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

the Shogun mod is only around the corner

Yay, thats why it is my Nightmare: It partly works in reverse. Idle, Walk and Running animation, no prob. But Die and fight doesn't work. I guess it is weapons.txt, because MTW-Grafic is used for more than just one Unit and Shogun can't interpret the original MTW-File... So I must edit them that way there's only one weapon...If that is the bug!

besides no-dachi is an XVI century japanese troop; i relly cant see how u can fit them in M:TW's era:)

that will save hours of converting, you may need to split the zip file into chunks so it can be uploaded here,
WinZip can do that for you,

alternately if you have a webspace and can upload it there then i can transfer the whole file here,

i dont know why lk gave up but i quit working on the stw mod when i relized that mtw shares graphics among units.... for instance....those no dachi look great but when u buy other units u can see that the images are corrupted.... the peasent folder is for all of the peasents...including urban milita ect...i think the mod is still possible...but it will take help from ca to make it work.... some of the things that would need to be changed cannot be done in txt files alone. however i wouldnt rule it out compleatly....the way the sprites are stored graphicly is the same... so whatever program ca is using to spit out diddy this and diddy that should be able to turn out mtw diddies for old splites...

to ca: your company put forth tremendous effort when making the original tw games... countless hours of graphic design already paid for. if you were to include the old versions on the expansion....just another era to choose from...viking/early/high/late/shogun/mi it would add a lot of value to your game.

But the reason I was and still am
interested is that it looks unlikely
CA are going to make an addon as you suggest
as they would need to add more unit graphics in the code.
This has always been our main mod intergration
problem.You can still have Shogun with more units
and a new engine.Which is not bad.
So please reconsider, as Rome looms around
the corner CA will have their hands full
it seems.This means one less project for me.
In turn, that leaves more time for me to
work on a Shogun mod.

So there is a map What would be swee tis if we could get the whole tech tree and only have it work on the japan map, so we have 2 completly diff games in one

Like we get the colors as in the first stw and all the tech tree and all the maps and all the units and have them only avalible in campagin in the japan map.

This has all the foot units It's still just

Maps can be made already.
That's not the problem.
The problem is you can't just swap from one campaign
to another by clicking a button.
It requires insatalling the mod and uninstalling it
every time you wish to change.

Now according to CA the expantion will include the viking invasion.This is suposed to run like another campaign
yet not being directly linked to the original
game.Like the warlords expantion for shogun.
It will contain more animations and more options.
This would imply to me that plug in campaigns
would work with the expantion pack much better
in principle.
This is my opinion based on what I'v heard.
This is not meant to be advice on how to contiue.

Nice work Lord Krazy, I'll give it a look and may start with skinning a copy of MTW to STW. Is the Japan Campmap working?

It's true that MTW doesn't feature the easy mod selection like say Quake 3. But it's possible to make an external one button to make it easier to swap mods. You can use batfiles to copy the STW bifs into the directories or restore the original ones. It's about the same as the manual backing up, just saves you a bit of expaining and is lots faster.

Making batfiles isn't hard.

It would be nice to see a mod that would make the stw and stw mongol invasion actually work on xp home. And I did updates my video drivers (which cause windows to crash and caused me to reformat my hardrice), but it still caused my sound card to pop. EA should have designed that game to work with xp since it was released around the time xp came out, but maybe EA does not support games that well.

An old thread... It seems that the files mentioned in this thread had been pulled from the beta uploads. I can't seem to find them in the normal downloads, either. Are these mods still available?

Hello Emp. Conralius,

I've toyed with the units for a bit. There were some graphical problems I couldn't solve and had enough other things to do http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif , so I suspended it. I may pick it up again later.
