Lord von Bulow looked upon the sheet of paper with army corps lists on it, and then looked to his commander, Emperor Frederick IV, King of Prussia and Emperor of Germany.
Well commander...we have conquered all of Germany and become the supreme masters of this land. Much like Italy. he said.
The Emperor nodded.
I didn't believe that the title of 'Emperor of the Germans' would be used again. When the Holy Roman Empire was abolished in 1806, it was the Austrians before us who claimed this title, he replied.
The list claimed the Armies of the German states consisted of rougly around 170,000 men. Of each state, Prussia and Bavaria had the most. In truth, the army consisted of only 100,000 men. The extra 70,000 were reservist troops in the other states who didn't bother to actually serve.
Prince Karl, the Emperor's second son, came in, and sat down by his father and Von Bulow.
Poland has been conquered, father, and Lord von Braunschweig has been installed as the Grand Duke of Warsaw, Prince Karl announced.
It was 1871, and Germany was at the peak of its power. A newly unified country under the banner of Prussia. A large industrial base, and above all, and army to subdue the...unhappy subjects.
The Franco-German war of 1867-1871 had showed the weakness in the French monarchy, and soon after, Louis XX abdicated in favour of his son, Henri, who became Henri V, and the Treaty of Paris was negotiated, with Lorraine being ceded to Germany. In 1871, Germany was the strongest country in Europe.

Our scene now switches to Berlin, in the summer of 1871. The Emperor has held a large parade to celebrate the Victory over France and the unification, and tonight, on August 1st, the first ever German Reichstag (Parliament) of all of the German states, 30 of them all together. The tubas and trumpets and drums all excited the Berlin crowds, and then...it happened...an event which would stay in the minds of Germans...
As the Emperor and his sons approached the Brandenburg Gate on horseback, around 1:30 in the afternoon...3 shots rang out...
OH GOD someone in the crowd yelled out.
Yet the shots still rang out.
Guards began running about, and aides were making sure the royal family was alright.
PRINCE FRANZ HAS BEEN SHOT PRINCE FRANZ HAS BEEN SHOT an aide yelled out.
The crowd broke out into a panic, as the Prince slumped over and fell off of the horse.
Suddenly, a loud bang rang out, and an explosion rocked the streets, as hand grenades were thrown, hitting the horse in which the Emperor was riding on.
PROTECT THE EMPEROR HURRY a guard yelled.
Gunshots then again rang out, as Prince Franz lay on the streets...dead...
And yet the band played on, marching up to Brandenburg Gate, and then changing the guard, as if things had never happened. Rifle shots rang out, and several people are dead, blood dripping out of gaping holes in their shirts, legs, or heads. Several guards lay dead, and craters were left in the streets covered with blood...

Ok, that was the first part of it. I'll write more tomorrow. Keep in mind that this is a modded campaign for NTW I made, with the Germans and Italians as unified countries and all that.

So you are writing about an NTW mod game you are actually playing ? Sounds nice.

Any chance of seeing some screenshots ? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

You open up the TGA in a graphics program, and just save as JPG. Paint Shop Pro is the program I use,but I guess most have the same ability. This will also reduce the size of the file down to approx 187K
