If you could pick any year to be born in and any country, where and when would you like to have been born and why?

I was born late enough to experience computer games and in a part of the world where I can afford them and am allowed to buy them. I wouldn't change a thing because I'm a lucky guy.

I would like to be born in 2004, knowing what I know now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Seriously though, my life has been pretty good. I'm now content with what and who I am. Our views of other time periods are usually romantic. Life was harder, shorter. But I believe people were happier on the whole. They wouldn't have missed TV, cars, health care, etc. It was unknown, therefore not longed for. Folks lived one day at a time, living for the moment. We waste most of our lives pining for things we aren't content with once we obtain them. I know this doesn't answer the question exactly, but I'm still trying to come up with one magic trick from another thread. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would be born in the early-mid 50s. That way I'd be old enough to actually see Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the beatles, when they were around.

Despite some not so great things, I really wouldn't have it any other way. It made me who I am, and I appreciate that. Sure, sometimes I wish some things were different, but then it wouldn't be me, and as soon as I come back to that thought, I know that everything that happened did so with a reason and that makes me content.

As far into the future as possible (hopefully at least a generation before any cataclysmic events that would seriously impede my having a comfortable life)

Been there done that.

Im pretty happy where I am. I think the 50s were great years to be a kid and the 60s great years to be a teenager and now I finaly can play the war games I always dreamed of.

I agree with Gawain and Ovaat. I am happy with the way my life has turned out. If I were too change the year of my birth, I would never meet my wife, never be a daddy to my two wonderful children, and probably would never have known my parents who gave me a tough, but fun childhood.

Seems age has a way of making you realize everything in your life, leading up til now, was instrumental in making you who you are, today. To change anything, might have consequences you would never anticipate or want.

So, for me, the summer of 1962 was a banner year

My GAWD, GAWAIN, could you imagine what it would have been like to be 12 or 13 and have access to the games the kids do today? We wouldn't have had to wack our toy soldiers with BB guns and firecrackers. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
