It is interesting, and my opinion on this has changed a few times, but I do think they actually did make it to the moon and it wasn't a hoax.

Man has not set foot on the moon fact

He has set boot on the moon http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-juggle.gif

The single best argument for this was that one about the flags waving when there's no atmosphere.

However I believe we did go there.

I answered this in the other thread but to recap, i dont know. The point that has me most stumped is the raditaion shielding required to travel through the radiation belt around the earth, a piece of tin foil isnt gonna make much difference..

They might have decided to blast the flag with an air line to make it look good for TV... you never know. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

So the plastic or metal (I can't remeber which) flag has you stumped huh?
I am old enough to remember watching the moon landings, live televised pictures in glorious black and white (this color TV stuff is never going to take off).

Nope. And aliens abducted JFK (*EDIT* and Marilyn Monroe) with the aid of government mind control devices http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Of course they did. If they'd faked it, the moon would have looked like an old episode of Star Trek - not hugely realistic.

I think both... That is, they did land on the moon but the TV show was a hoax, prerecorded in case of failure.

I can just imagine Armstrong...

This is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Don't bother, no one is watching.

Damn you. Can I go home yet?

Well..we are doing some exploration to disprove Galileo’s law of motion...that objects fall at the same rate by bouncing a laser off mirrors left behind on the moon durring the Apollo missions (and a Russian mission) to hopefully study the rate the moon falls toward the sun and determine if the law of motion is true for very large masses.....so...I would say Yes...Man did make it to the moon...regarding the flag waving...can think of three reasons offhand...but the time I saw it waving was when the eagle module blasted off from the moon dispelling rocket gases in the blast off...which appeared to 'blow' the flag...IMO.

I remember reading a long time ago about other evidence to prove it was a hoax (as well as the flag).

I think another thing was the guy who was taking pictures-there is a man in the shot and a reflection of someone else in his visor-which is too many men.

It was something like that anyway....

All the answers are here (http://www.clavius.org/).

Comments, if you even looked at it.

As for the flag waving:

Quote[/b] ]Many HBs show a picture of an astronaut standing to one side of the flag, which still has a ripple in it (for example, see this famous image (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/a11/as11-40-5874.jpg)). The astronaut is not touching the flag, so how can it wave?

The answer is, it isn't waving. It looks like that because of the way the flag was deployed. The flag hangs from a horizontal rod which telescopes out from the vertical one. In Apollo 11, they couldn't get the rod to extend completely, so the flag didn't get stretched fully. It has a ripple in it, like a curtain that is not fully closed. In later flights, the astronauts didn't fully deploy it on purpose because they liked the way it looked. In other words, the flag looks like it is waving because the astronauts wanted it to look that way. Ironically, they did their job too well. It appears to have fooled a lot of people into thinking it waved.

This explanation comes from NASA's wonderfulspaceflight web page (http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/history/flag/flag.htm). For those of you who are conspiracy minded, of course, this doesn't help because it comes from a NASA site. But it does explain why the flag looks as it does, and you will be hard pressed to find a video of the flag waving. And if it was a mistake caused by a breeze on the set where they faked this whole thing, don't you think the director would have tried for a second take? With all the money going to the hoax, they could afford the film

Note added March 28, 2001: One more thing. Several readers have pointed out that if the flag is blowing in a breeze, why don't we see dust blowing around too?

Face it everyone, we were there These conspiracy theories date back to when that film came out that was based on the notion that the first Mars landing was being faked in a TV studio. Most conspiracy nuts get their inspiration from films, and they rarely wonder why anybody would still maintain the conspiracy.

I don't care what Oliver Stone said, JFK was killed by a mere random madman with delusions of self-importnce.

And here is not one alien out there who wants to abduct hillbillies and engage in some anal probing.

There's no Father Christmas either
