Really? where are american students when their sixteen, grade speaking? I'm not actually 16 until August, but it's better to think of it like that for these purposes, as I'm the youngest in my year-most people leave school at 16.

in the U.S. you'd be going into your Sophomore year in August. I'm in my Sophomore year now and am going into my Junior year this August...

so, how long before you head off to the ol' uni? And where are planning on going?

Most american schools run through Grade 12 and start at age 5 or 6, so we are 17 or 18 when most of us leave. Age 16 would be sophomore or junior in high school.

I finnish second level tomorrow at age 18 after 14 years of education. Its a little sureal I can totally understand what you are saying BKS about your school. Its funny that even in different countries, so much can be so similar. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Well, now Ive got an all-honours Leaving Cert (that is the Irish A-Levels, Abi, Bac etc.. except we have at least 6 subjects, I do 8) to look forward to. Thats 3 weeks of exams... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif

To celebrate, my friends and I are going on an inter-railing holiday around Europe for a month, after which I will be starting my Uni course at Trinity in late September. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-book2.gif

Tomorrow will be spent with one more class in the morning (Technical Graphics in my case), then we will be given tea and cakes. Next we have to set up the tables, after which we have the afternoon to ourselves (read: PUB). In the early evening we meat our parents and we all attend the Valedictory service and dinner. And finnally, we rent a bus to take us into town to a nightclub http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I really cant believe its all finnished How strange. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-stunned.gif

Quote[/b] ]I stand alone in this desolate space. In death they are truly alive.
Massacred innocence, evil took place. The angels were burning inside.

Centuries later I wonder why. What secret that they took to their grave.
Still burning heretics under our skies. Religion still burning inside.

At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.
At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.
At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.
At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.

As we kill them all so god will know his own. The innocents died for the pope on his throne.
Catholic greed and it's paranoid zeal. Curse of the grail and the blood of the cross.

Templar believers with blood on their hands. Joined in the chorus to kill on demand.
Burned at the stake for their soul's liberty. To stand with the Cathars to die and be free.

The book of old testament crippled and black. Satan his weapon is lust.
Living this evil damnation of flesh, back to the torture of life.
The perfect would willingly have died at the stake and all of their followers slain.
As for the knowledge of god they had claimed. Religion still burning inside.

At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.
At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.
At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.

As we kill them all so god know his own. The innocents died for the pope on his throne.
Catholic greed and it's paranoid zeal. Curse of the grail and the blood of the cross.

Templar believers with blood on their hands. Joined in the chorus to kill on command.
Burned at the stake for their soul's liberty. Still burning heretics under our skies.

As we kill them all so god WILL know his own. Laugh at the darkness and in god we trust.
The eye of the triangle smiling with sin. No passover feast for the curse of within.

Facing the sun as they went to their grave. Burn like a dog or you live like a slave.
Death is the price for your soul's liberty. To stand with the cathars and to die and be free.

At the gates and the walls of Montségur. Blood on the stones of the citadel.

Yes, that would have it's faults. When I went to France, I was pissed off cuz I couldn't buy Chardonnay Wine. I didn't think the French could understand English, so I left. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Wine? What's that? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Anyway, they all understand English. Just in the north they don't like English people (personally I reckon then centuries of killing, pillage, rape and looting may have something to do with it) so ignore you.

Friendlier in the south though. Everyone there around 16 seems to have a slightly unhealthy obsession with AC/DC too. Never try and translate Full Metal Jacket from English to French either. Ever.

I've always wondered, how Catholic are the European Catholics schools? The ones here are abyssmal (I went to one for 1 year and a half) not only in their 'Catholicity' but academically as well. Of course they're exponentially better than the public education system though...

So what distinguishes the CaThOlIc University of Leuven from the University of Leuven?

There are probably a few nuns there who tell all the girls how evil men are. That's why most of them either become lesbians or get pregnant by 21.

When do you start school across the pond BKS? Explain how it's possible that you could leave school by 16. Do you go on to some kind of prep-school before college, or just hang around and leech off your parents like a bum http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ah, I think the confusion here resides over the terms 'college'. Over here, College is where we do our A levels. These are equivalent to the first year of an American degree course, and the course lasts two years-from 16 to 18 if you do it immeadiately after college. We then go to university, which is I beleive equivalent to your college, but a year shorter, I think.

So, to answer your question, I will be starting my A-levels next year.

So you do something called A and B level school that you call college? So, what, is it like a more advanced High School, or just a Uni prep course or what? I mean, what difficulty level is the work in A and B years?

Do you have majors and minors or is it general ed?

No, there's no B-level. A stands for advanced. There used to be an O-level, ordinary that stood for I think, but those got replaced with GCSES.

It's not a uni prep course, although a lot of people who do a-levels go on to uni-as you say, it's a more advanced high school. The difficulty of the work gets up to, I think, about the same level of difficulty as one of your universities in it's first year. There's no major and minor, or general ed-basically, you just pick 4-5 subjects. You then normally drop one after the first year (the exams at the end of the first year are AS, ones at the end of the second are A2).
