A futile attempt to pull Gawain out of retirement.

I personally prefer stock cars on a 0.5-1 mile track.

Dirt tracks in person are great especially if you want to get clobbered by dirt from the track.

Always enjoyed turtle racing. Easier to follow. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/flat.gif

I like NASCAR because the racing is very competitive. Sure it is goin' 'round in circles but the guys take the cars to the edge of losing control.

I'll also agree with Malcolm that dirt track racing is a blast to go see. The roar and power of the engines really gets the adrenaline flowing.

I have been to the Daytona 500 a couple of times. It is amazing to see 35 cars going about 200 mph bumper to bumper.

Im not retired just refuse to go in the tavern. Its no fun walking on tip toes and 5 minutes between posts is just too frustrating. Technically F-1 is the best, competitively NASCAR is best. But I love a good world of outlaws race in the dirt. Lots of that stuff in NY and Penn.

My everyday driving experience, of course.

But seriously (as if I wasn't all the time, heh) I'd say Rally. Closest thing to the reality. I get no sense of speed watching F1, but Rally cars on real surfaces like dirt, asphalt, snow et cetera, that's a different thing.

voigt, those rally guys are nut cases. High speeds on unfamiliar, narrow roads, questionable road conditions, awful weather, no safety barriers, wildlife hazzards. Sounds like fun to me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif

I watch NASCAR racing each week. I have no idea why, but I have been watching it since 1985 and it's a habit.

We have a dirt track 2 hours east of San Diego. It's a great experience. We also have a 3/8 mile oval closer to town that has much better racing than Nextel Cup.

But my favorite racing is European sedans. The cars are so close to street cars, they have opening doors, stock trim, and even actual lights.
