Not Canadian, but my dad has lived there for the past 15+ years and has lived with his Canadian g/f for almost that long. I vacation there every year too. Canada is my favourite country after the US (of course) and Gordon Lightfoot is one of my favourite singers.

Does that give me near-Canadian status? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Never miss a chance to post this one:

Quote[/b] ]Hey,
I'm not a lumber jack
Or a fur trader
And I don't live in an igloo
Or eat blubber
Or own a dog sled
And I don't know
Jimmy, Sally or Suzie from Canada
Although I'm sure they're really really nice
I have a Prime Minister not a President
I speak English and French not American
And I pronounce it about, not a-boot
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack
I believe in peacekeeping not policing
Diversity not assimilation
And that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch
And it is pronounced zed, not zee, zed
Canada is the 2nd largest landmass
The 1st nation in hockey
And the best part of North America
My name is Joe and I am Canadian

BTW How do Canadians view Australians? As former British colonies with a lot of similar things (Immigration, people urban density and rural low density etc)

I'm not Canadian but I like the place a lot. I have friends in Wellington, Ontario.

I have visited Ottawa and spent a week traversing Algonquin Provincial Park by canoe. The wilderness was unforgettable. There's nothing like awaking to the cry of a loon and falling asleep to the howl of a wolf

Canada is always a good time for me.

give me a definition of canadian, by blood, or by birth...

i was born in kincheloe afb, which is located 20 minutes away from sault ste marie canada ontario, where my mom was born and raised, i have over 300 relatives in that town, and i frequent it occassionaly, not so much since my grandma passed away... but does that qualify...

and goofball that poem was hillarious, being from alaska, i get the same thing from the lower 48, which is why i affectionetly call some of my fellow yanks, flatlanders..

my favorite thing to do on vacation in the states is to ask sales clerks if they accept alaskan money... basicaly the dollar about half fall for it and have to ask a supervisor...

Dad was a farmboy from outside Stratford, Ontario. Maternal grandpa was from Montreal. I grew up in Detroit (only place in the US where going south takes you to Canada). Lived and worked (and paid taxes)in Toronto, Windsor & Simcoe Ont in the early 70's. I'm told I legally had dual-citizenship until I was 25 (Dad never naturalized).

So, waddaUthink? 75%?

Also, note that currently retired moderator Jaguara is Canadian.
