What do u mean by campmaps, do u mean the textures or the provinces (or both)?

And when u say a new model, do u mean unit or building (u can't make totally new buildings, only edit the textures of the old ones)

As for making the campmap, I have some knowledge in this area, I have made a fully working new campmap for my Wheel of Time mod.

and I thought Lord of Storms Explanation wasn't detailed enough , because I don't know how to get the provinces
to work right; as in I can't put in the borders or
positions so I wonder if someone can help?

Wha?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Have u tried using LMM, if not, then it makes campmap creation a hell of a lot easier. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-clown.gif

That's what i mean, which file do i edit?

Myrddraal
06-08-2004, 17:16
LMM4 is a tool, not a file. Download it here. (http://www.mizus.com/Tools/Files/LMM4v1_BETA_VERSION.zip)

U'll also need the LukMapMaker_GUI_OCX (http://www.mizus.com/Tools/Files/LukMapMaker_GUI_OCX.zip) to make it work.

Its very useful for making a new campmap. It also has some useful txt file instructions with it. I can help u get through it if u have any problems. The script file it generates is incomplete, but it generates all the right lines so u can copy/paste into ur startpos. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

If u mean which file to edit to change the texture of the campmap, its MapTex2.tga in textures/campmap if u want to replace the old game or textures/campmap/urmod if u want to make this mod in the style of an expansion. (for VI)

if u mean the urmod.txt in /campmap/startpos folder. You need to declare all the provinces (not sure if LMM does this automatically, u might have to do it urself). Copy/paste the SetNeighbour:: lines and SetBorderAttribues:: lines (or something like that) from script.txt (created by LMM) into urmod.txt. Do the same for all lines in script.txt and paste them in the relevant pages.

It should work.

(that wasn't very clear i know, but u get the general idea)

What tool are u using:

I used psp, unfortunatly, campmap design is a long process, but having a program with good tools in it helps a lot. Also, what style of campmap are u making, are u using the graphics from the MTW map?

Myrddraal

R U using satellite image? or are u making ur own textures. If so, some of the effect are quite good, like rough leather and stuff like that makes for quite good land textures.

Yeah do you know how to set a Faction to Hate Another
because the Story involves Two Factions which are Sworn rivals

Myrddraal
06-22-2004, 12:38
The only ways I can think of are make them different cultures/religions, and set both of them to expansionist behaviour.

Another way would be to make the border provinces have high base incomes. When AI calculates where to attack, the incomes of the provinces are an important factor. So if the provinces on their borders have high income they will be more likely to attack each other.

When u say that they are in seperate areas, do u mean there are rebel provinces between them, if this is the case. I've been working on this for some time to implement it into my mod.

From page 5 (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=27;t=17823;st=100) of the Wheel of Time mod thread.

Quote[/b] ]The method I thought of for making these alliances/hatreds work is by 'guiding' the AI to attack certain provinces and leave others alone. For example you would 'guide' Illian to attack Tear etc.
This is how I thought it would be possible. The AI uses (amongst other things) the income of provinces to decide whether to attack. The idea is that I could make a 'path' of provinces with slightly higher incomes than the surrouding rebel provinces. The AI would naturally prefer to attack the provinces with higher incomes (and maybe less defenders), and so would be 'led' along towards another nations provinces. For example, in the case of Tear and Illian, the Plains of Maredo would be rebel, and would have higher income and less troops in it than Haddon Mirk. Therefore, Tear would be more encouraged to attack west, towards Illian, than north, towards Andor and Cairhien.
Also, the opposite would be true. The Black Hills and provinces south of the borderlands would have lower incomes than the provinces on the edge of the Blight, so the Borderlanders would discouraged from spreading too far south.

Obviously this is in the context of the Wheel of Time but you should get the general idea.

themonkey
06-22-2004, 12:56
Yeh I get it so I have a path like :
Province: Income:
1 300
2 500
3 600

Myrddraal
06-22-2004, 13:11
Basically what you suggested will make a one way path. If you want it to go both ways it should be like this:

Province: Income:
1 600
2 600
3 600

Remember, It isn't just the incomes of the path you have to change, You also have to make the incomes in other directions low.

Also Remember, This method will not always work. I have not had a chance to test it extensively, so I don't know how effective it is.

Anther method. Would be to make provinces in other directions more rebelious. This would make it harder for them to spread in other directions.

Also you could make the provinces in the paths have no defenders.

Thanks I'll trie that some time, I am doing the campmap right now and I have found Mountains are very hard to do- I copied Granada , use to textures on different hardnesses
and I covered the name

Myrddraal
