What exactly did Capo do?

That is extremely harsh. You might as well just ban him- it's nigh on impossible to post with those restrictions.

TosaInu
06-19-2004, 19:52
Hello RisingSun,

1.That's less than two minutes => 30 posts an hour.
2. Forums are not just about voicing your opinion, there's also something to read.

As for harsh actions. I've seen a some board software. And they have tools aboard that make a harsh situation. Both for the moderators and the posters. How about the moderation queue? I take it to mean that a member makes a post and it is not going to be posted until a mod has reviewed and rumber stamped it. :shivers:
You'ld think it's a used feature if it's so common?

Some floodcontrol hopefully helps people to give it a second thought before hitting submit. That can prevent a lot of trouble in the forums. I don't care, crush each other if you please. Outside

255 seconds is just over 4 minutes not two. I have suffered with this most of my time here at the org and it seems to be a bit harsh to.Although it is better than the 755 second one I had for a while. I don't know about you but mine also includes not being able to edit my posts very frustrating. It is only my love for you all that keeps me here. Hello,

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-oops.gif 4*60=240 seconds, so yes about 14 posts/hour, thanks for pointing that out.

You state that you suffer with this most of your time here Gawain of Orkeny?
You're registered August 2003 and you were carded for something that happened only a couple of weeks ago?

August 2003 - April 2004: No cards.
There's a post dated Jan. 12 2004,01:36 made by you
http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin....+orkeny (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=14201;hl=gawain+of+orkeny)

Two cards April 6th 2004: in Tavern.

April 20th 2004: lifted 1 of two cards. (=> two weeks after the 'mistake' you could edit again and had only 60 extra seconds, not 240).
8 May 2004: lifted 2nd of two cards.

Clean record May 8th-May 15th.

May 15th 2004: 1st card in Tavern.
May 18th 2004: 2nd card in Tavern.
May 23rd 2004: 3th card by me in Watchtower.

May ~24th 2004: I lifted card #3.

I understand you bend the facts to drum up support, but I don't appreciate it. You accuse us of 3 months? The two cards will stay for 3 months then, starting May 15th. They will be removed August 15th 2004 earliest.

Oh nice since it seems like forever to me that I have had this restriction you are going to punish me further. I have no record of my cards like you do to check back on. It seems like forever for me. Im not trying to drum up support I was just asking for mercy and this is your reply.

Notice this
Quote[/b] ]Two cards April 6th 2004: in Tavern.

Two cards at once I must have done something awful terrible to deserve that.

So from april 6th till june 21st I have had 7 days with no restrictions. Is it any wonder it seems like 3 months to me and remember I said I was going on three months not that it had been 3 months. Now you are going to hit me with 7 more weeks of this because I asked for mercy.

Sorry I just have to add this
Quote[/b] ]I understand you bend the facts to drum up support, but I don't appreciate it.

Drum up support from who for what? I have been following squippys complaints and the answers to these by the moderate rs. It is quite obvious from that thread that support from members will do you little good and only having the support of the mods can do you any good when it comes to removing punishment. I should have titled my post an open letter to all mods as that is who I was looking for some support from. I have pmed a few mods asking for relieve but always get the same answer just wait.

Quote[/b] ]accuse us of 3 monthsIt was never my intention to accuse the mods of anything. That I made a mistake as to the length of time involved in this matter I hope you can understand. I have gone out of my way to be civil to everyone here. I fail to see where I deserve such harsh punishment again for something that was clearly a misunderstanding. You would think that I was one of the most rude and inflammatory posters in the history of the org by the way I am treated here. I know that I am prejudice in this opinion but I really cannot understand it. I ask you to reconsider your actions against me.

Where did I ever say he didn't? It is not a matter for me but the mods to decide. I only said that it was obvious from the thread involving him that looking for support from the patrons instead of the mods is a foolish thing and not what I was trying to do it only is counter productive to your case as has been shown by the fact that even the perception of trying to do so in my case caused more harm than good.

A.Saturnus
06-22-2004, 19:58
No Gawain, what caused more harm was not being accurate about your penalty.

Gawain of Orkeny
06-22-2004, 20:19
Like I said I have no record of when my penalties were given. Also it was shown that I have had only 7 days without restrictions since april 6th. Is it any wonder it seems more like an eternity to me never mind three months. So because I made a mistake as too the exact amount of time on this current restriction I should be further punished? It still seem like forever to me . To be punished like this over an honest mistake and while asking for help is beyond my comprehension. As I stated I was addressing the mods not looking for backing from the members.

Hello Gawain of Orkney,

August 2003 - April 2004: No cards. 8-9 months, which is much more than 50% of your stay at org (even if Jan 12th 2004 is your real starting date at org, then there are 4 months out of 6 where you had NO restrictions). More than 50% is most of the time.

April 6th-April 20th 2 cards => 2 weeks of 240 extra seconds.

April 20th-May 8th 1 card => about 19 days of 60 extra seconds.

May 8th-May 15th no cards and no extra floodcontrol at all.

May 15th-May 18th 1 new card => 3 days of 60 extra seconds.

In total the minor period of your stay here had a pause of ~ 5 weeks with 60 or less extra seconds of flood control.

You are in no way suffering most of the time you stay here with 240 seconds extra flood.

I'm sorry that I didn't understood your 3 month statement that well. You said that the third month was starting, I understand now. Thanks. A month will be substracted and 1 day added for the third month. July 16th 2004.

Gawain of Orkeny

Quote[/b] ]even if Jan 12th 2004 is your real starting date at org, then there are 4 months out of 6 where you had NO restrictions

I was talking of my time at the tavern which I believe(though I may be wrong as you can tell my sense of time is a bit off) was sometime in the middle of Feb. I know I didn't really start posting till then because I moved in Jan and didn't get a new connection until feb 15th or there abouts,so Ive only been here for 5 months in reality. I guess I like this place to much because as I stated it seem as like forever to me. Sorry for the mistake and thanks for reducing the penalty somewhat although I think it still awful harsh for my actions. I will try to tough it out but its not easy. This is really hard on me. Its like torture of the worst kind but you are the boss and I bow to your will. So am I being punished because I mistated my time on restriction or would I have had this long to wait any way ?Thanks again for listening. If you would rather I pm you just send me a message.

That is a feature on some forums, this one doesn't have that.

There shouldn't be any need for any such things though.
