Not me. I'm off to Switzerland (for some reason) and relatives... Great fun.

That would, of course, change everything.

I'm in New York right now doing a document review at a client's offices.

I'll be right over.

Not me. If I want to be harassed by angry people with wierd accents, I'll act like a republican living in Chicago.

Oh wait.

Right now I'm in the World Financial Center on the 24th floor in a windowless room surrounded by 20 year old investment records; all of the relevant ones are being copied and sent to DC. The attorney I'm with, a very uptight senior associate, is revising a memo and I'm making use of the wireless coverage in the building.

Soon I will go to lunch at Cosi's in the Winter Garden.

See you there. I'll be in the blue suit, yellow tie, cellphone in hand, waving.

Worse comes to worse, I'll palmpilot you a PM. But in midtown (50th street?) it should be easy to spot a guy on his laptop with the very familiar .Org website onscreen.

We are going to catch our flight soon. When I see a bunch of guys in blue suits and yellow ties I'll yell Who wants to get coked up and conquer Europe? That should make the attorney I'm working for even more nervous. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

oh, sucks.
anyway, Cosi's isn't my cup-o-tea. it's all sandwiches/wraps until 5pm http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

the really good stuff, like the chocolate fondue, doesn't happen until after 5:30.

btw, i actually really did go to the Cosi's on Park and 51st, just to see. nothing. right now I'm at a cybercafe on 3rd Ave. to see if you had updated.

The attorney has just discovered a box of stuff that he thinks is relevant. So we have delayed our flight. I am still in a windowless room. My suit is getting wrinkled and a recptionist challenged the validity of my visitor's pass when I came back from the bathroom; I shouldn't have worn my terrorist outfit to work today.

Winter Garden's food is mediocre; the sushi place is pretty bad.

Last time I was in New York the attorney that I was with was trying to figure out if the partner would get mad if we did dinner at a strip club and put it on a firm credit card. Later that night he drank several bottles from the minibar and paid for it in cash so that the firm wouldn't know that he had gotten tanked at 3am before a client meeting. The desk clerk basically laughed at him when he put the room and breakfast on a corporate card and paid the bar charges in cash.

I have returned from New York having once again failed to do anything but see the client's offices, the airport, the Winter Garden, and the inside of an executive sedan.

Unfortunately since a law firm is a partnership and any expenses that the client refuses to cover get covered by the firm, which means the partners pay for it.

Solypsist is right, bring your own toilet paper. I'm glad that I saw this thread before I left. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toilet.gif

It's been 14 years since I was in New York so I may be forgetting important things, but I don't remember any toilet paper adventures. What is the deal with that?
