I was just watching West Side Story for the hundredth time probably. Its my favorite musical of all time and has my favorite song and dance number of all time Everythings Free in America. Great music, Clever lyrics and spectacular dancing. Of course this can be said of the whole movie but theres something about this particular number that sets it above all the rest to me. Any of you have a favorite musical or number from one that you like the best?

My favourite musical would have to be Everyone Says I Love You, a movie by Woddy Allen. It's a bit unorthodox, which is probably the reason why I like it. I strongly recommend it.

Amazing, when I saw the title of the thread I thought of West Side Story right away.

When you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dying day...

I want to live in America is also a fantastic number. The scene absolutely sizzles. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

I Want to Live in America is my favorite from West Side Story as well.

My favorite musical is Jesus Christ Superstar, by far.

Other top numbers:

The chimney sweep dance (Step in Time) from Mary Poppins

The barn raising dance from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

The Last Days of Pompeii (Shipoopi) dance number from The Music Man.

The King Louie song (I Wanna Be Like You) from The Jungle Book--does that count?

Camelot from Quest for the Holy Grail. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Then again, maybe it would be Every Sperm is Sacred from The Meaning of Life. Decisions, decisions.

Edit: Forgot to add Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, though the choreography was admittedly rather limited.

Thats what I loved about it most. It was just like a Holywood musical in every way.
Cant believe no one has mentioned Grease here yet.

Wedding Celebration And The Bottle Dance, Fiddler on the Roof, where the Jews and Russian soldiers/peasants celebrate Tevye's daughter's upcoming wedding - beautiful Hebrew mourn/celebration, and vibrant pre-Soviet Russian good times, everyone coming together for this common human event.

J.C. Superstar, right up there for me too. Also laughed/leered at much of Cabaret.

Mine are between between 'Run Like Hell' from the wall (Excellent song, although not the best on the wall. I mainly chose it because of the footage that goes with it) and 'We're not gonna take it' from Tommy.

the song Heaven on Their Minds is from Jesus Christ Superstar is really great. it has some of the best rock music composition in the history of mankind. too bad that every song in the show didn't have that exact same kind of rock flare.

Les Miserables has many, many great songs

Here's a few right off the top of my head and in no particular order...

Springtime for Hitler - The Producers, from the original movie soundtrack. A truly hysterical cinematic moment. Loved the beer stein and pretzel bras for the dancing chicks
New York, New York - Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly & Jules Munshin. From the movie On the Town
I've Got Rhythm - Gene Kelly in An American in Paris
Time Warp - Rocky Horror Picture Show
I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General - The Pirates of Penzance
Uncle F---ker - South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut - Crude but so well done it gets a nod

????

I think being racist to someone is never funny. I agree, but how can you call springtime for hitler unfunny?

And racits comments can be funny just as long as thier not being well... racist.

Now how can racist comments not be racist you ask? Well look at southpark and more importantly listen to the song Merry F*cking Cristmas. Now southpark has many many racist jokes but, it never singles out a single race. So it isn't racist is it?
