Just of sheer curiosity I was wondering how many people here reads regularly or have ever read "Usagi Yojimbo" the Stan Sakai's comic. And if that is the case would you say the comic is a realistic description of 17th century Japan?

For general information: Usagi Yojimbo follows the adventures of a Ronin in 17th century Japan just at the beginning of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

The cool thing is that in the comic, the characters are not humans. They are animals. Usagi (the main character) is a bunny, his sensei is a lion, his warlord a panda bear, the ninjas are cats or bats, etc, etc.

Regardless the "Walt Disney's effect" the comic is quite realistic in my opinion.

ive seen that comic book in the comic shop and heard about how good the story is, but the fact that the characters are animals kind of prevent me from buying a copy, i read lone wolf and cub as well as blade of the immortal, ive seen a poster for a comic book called "no honor" and its a samurai themed comic book to be released this spring.

I have never read the comic, but I have played the computer game. It was a fun game on the Commodore 64 many years ago. It had sneaky ninja and manic warrior monks just like STW!

Hello,

Usagi Yojimbo is a nice comic. It's based on history and Japanese mythology, but it's a comic.

I played Usagi Yojimbo on my C64 too (a long time ago). I've played it again this last week. On my PC. C64 games are downloadeble on the web and there are some good emulators. I use ccs64.
