Vercingetorix has done it again! He's releases a mod switcher, allowing you to easily switch between mods. The thread is http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=13848&st=0 .

along with a mod maker? by the same author..

just so you all know,

Interesting... the 1.2 patch will contain a mechanism to allow people to switch between mods via a command-line option, but there is no reason that that can't co-exist with Vercinge's new tool.

The way this works is that every mod creator shou;d use the Mod Maker and turn their mod into a common file system, so that the mod switcher can identify it.

Thus, only mod makers need the mod maker, and people who want to use the mods need the mod switcher.

@ Jerome:
So how will that work then? Do you also ask of mod makers to use a common file system? Or does your mechanism automatically discover altered game files? Or other way?

It would be the simplest way to use any existent files in a certain mod directory instead of the standard files if you choose to play this mod. And that's hopefully how it is done ^^
Anyways, tell us, Jerome :D

Hmm. Just need to make sure that everybody uses the Mod Maker on their own mods, otherwise the program would just be pointless.

I know I will.

Pretty much. Most of the art resources are loaded through the setup scripts, so the plan is to just re-direct the setup scripts to a new directory, and load any that are not found from the default directory. Running all of the file loading through a double-check mechanism would end up being expensive in terms of load time, so we probably won't do that.
