Has anyone made a map for the town the seven samauri protected? That movie rules...

On a side note, anyone know the type of Sword Kikuchiyo had? No-Dachi or Dai-Katana?

I think there was a map of that name for the Demo version of the game, and I recall someone planning for a re-do for the expansion pack (featuring Kensai). See the Editing / Patches / Mods forum (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Editing+/+Mods+/+Patches&number=5) for more info.

I've always referred to Kikuchiyo's blade as a No-Dachi, but I'm no expert...

That movie does indeed rule!

I totally agree! Some of the films lately (especially American films have really thrown themselves down. ) Some how they get the same kind of greatness as Steven Segel's movies.

But the best of his films must be 'Yojimbo'.

I just watched Yojimbo tonight for the very first time. I got it on DvD (previously viewed) for next to nothing. It was very good + I was looking at the Seven Samurai DvD too, but unfortunately it was not in widescreen format, so I didn't get it.

I think they're bringing out the best of Akira Kurosawa later this year in a box set dvd selection; and also on VHS also.

I checked out Kurosawa's Sanjuro (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0056443) this evening: not bad at all!

It was made just after Yojimbo, and had lots of the same faces + it had some interesting humour too; I wasn't expecting it at all, but some of the scenes were quite funny. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Don't you love all the "blood" at the end of Sanjuro when the fella gets slashed? Theres a pause, a bang and suddenly gallons of "blood" spraying everywhere. Sometimes special effects are best avoided!

Have any of you seen the Seven Samurai figures that came out about a year ago?

Picture from maker's homepage (http://www.alfrex.co.jp/s7_1e.html)

They're pricey (although, being imports, its understandable), but they look incredibly like their film counterparts. The bodies are much more articulated than your average G.I.Joe (although they look dreadful when not covered by clothing). A friend picked up their Yojimbo figure awhile back (a shame for me, it's now sold out http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif ) and he's been very happy with the looks and ability to position him in kneeling and sitting positions, as well as all kinds of stances. I'm saving up for the Seven Samurai as a self-spoiling B-Day gift to myself. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Just need to convince myself that $1200 isn't too much to pay for well crafted, imported action figures... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
