All Kurosawa's work, with Yojimbo right at the top. Samurai I, II, & III by Inagaki are good but only because of Tosh. I have Toshiro Mifunes' autograph in a 1900 first edition of "BUSHIDO,The Soul of Japan".

Does anybody remember the name of the movie in which a lord that has died is replaced with a peasent who "acts" like the lord in order to keep the rival daimyos "at bay"? The ending.. is the son of the dead lord finds out about the imposter and invades a province and loses his army to the Takeda seppo army.

Tsumi, that is Kurosawa@s Kagemusha I believe. I remember the opposing prince drinking wine "it is red, like blood" while ordering the musketeers to "shoot the horses".
