This is a sticky that has the intention to enlighten everyone visiting our EB forum about the purpose of this MOD.

The Europa Barbarorum project started in January 2004 as a project with the intent of correcting the ahisotrical depiction of "barbarian" factions in RTW. Our purpose was to gather the biggest possible amount of historical information and to convey this info to CA, for them to correct "barbarian" factions, prior to RTW's release.

Later, this idea was expanded to correct the ridiculous Egyptian ahistorical representation and several other aspects concerning other factions. As no improvement was made to RTW by CA, the group decided to transform the project into a MOD.

This MOD has the intention of rebuilding RTW from the ground up to create the most realistic possible depiction of this time period. Yes, it will be much more of a Historical simulator than RTW ever will. Amongst many other alterations like graphics, AI beahaviour, kill speed reduction, unit speed reduction, more realistic strategical depiction of the age, etc... we are removing ANY ahistorical unit that RTW has. This includes several that people could claim to have existed, like Incendiary Pigs, Druids, etc... but that in reality were never more than isolated, surrealistic events in the fabric of time and NEVER military units itself. This MOD has the intent of depicting as possible as it can be depicted, the culture, look and feel of the populations of that age.

Therefore, we at EB, would apreciate people not to post ahistorical suggestions, no matter how "cool" or "fun" you think they might be...

As for ideas that might seem historical like the idea of "barbarian hordes" and such, these suggestions have to be proved by historical excerpts that can be confirmed by one another. So, please, research before you post. We do not need the forum to be clogged with superfluos information.
