Hi,

I am currently finding it quite difficult to keep track of topics where I have commented or posted a question. I remember at the old forum there was a way to display all the topics where you had posted in. I am pretty sure this will be also possible at this board, but I just don't know how.

Anyone who could help me out would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Nigel

Unfortunately, the forum search is currently disabled - see the Database lagging thread. If it was enabled, you could just go to your profile (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/member.php?u=4797) and select "Find all posts by Nigel". Hopefully the search function will be back soon.

For keeping track of future threads, I suggest setting the Default Thread Subscription Mode in your UserCP/Options. This link (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions) should take you there. There are a number of options. If you don’t want email notification, just select No email notification: that should then keep track of threads you post in.

You can also do this manually each time you post. Just select the appropriate option in the Additional Options/Thread Subscription box, which is below the Reply to Thread box (the one you type your post in). You then just need to go your subscriptions (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/subscription.php?) (there are also links from your UserCP and from Quick Links). You can organise your subscriptions into folders or indeed delete them if you want.

For finding previous threads of yours, I'm afraid Google is probably your best bet, but it's far from complete. The best way that I've found to find posts by an individual user is plugging this in Google:

"nigel's avatar" site:forums.totalwar.org (try this link (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22nigel%27s+avatar%22+site%3Aforums.totalwar.org&meta=))

That comes up with 33 hits. You could just search for your username, but adding the avatar bit means that it will only find posts that you've made.

Another trick that I find useful is either going to the Archive (there’s a link to them at the bottom of each page), or displaying more than the default number of threads with the full forum display. You can do this by creating urls such as this:

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=32&page=1&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=200&daysprune=-1 (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=32&page=1&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=200&daysprune=-1)

Which should display the first 200 threads in the Colosseum. To change the forum, change the f=32 (e.g. f=26 is the Watchtower). You can also change the number of threads displayed at one time. Advance through the posts by changing the page number. I've highlighted the appropriate parts above.

Both these make it easier, in my experience, to search for threads.

Thanks, Therother,

that may help me a lot.
Hopefully the search functions can be reactivated eventually.
Meanwhile I will try Google ~:)
