hello , i have a question about pikemen , why macedonians real pikeman have hoplites xixstons????? in history , the macedonians use the hoplon and the xiston ???? because in the game the real pikemen are like hoplites , but they have more men in the units....

I don`t want to be rude ~:) , but have to point out few misconceptions in your thread:

1. Royal Pikemen don`t use "short pikes" in vanilla RTW, they use normal ones (just as other hoplites)

2. There is mistake in unit`s name, rather then in it`s weapon. Hypaspists were armed just as standart hoplites - spear + large shield. I`d rather say that they, along with most other spear units, should have "short pikes" but it`s a debatable issue.

3. If you want to make them pikemen, you should also change their shield to the small one.

As for the Royal Pikemen , they are sort of an amalgamation of several historical units I think , but don't have the range of abilities that the Hypaspists had ; the Hopilite type Hypaspists should be able to exchange their spears for Javlins and act as elite heave peltasts , and there should be a sword specialist version I think as well .
The best option is to change the name to Hypaspists , adjust their stats to allow them to function well with swords and perform better all-round {they are really only on par with Armoured Hopilites as is} then create a javlin and sword armed version to round out the Hypaspist element of Macedons' armies , though creating a purely sword armed specialst as well might be worth it for some folk .
