View Full Version : Someone should host a clan tournament

Ratta Yamamoto

As there are many clans who have claimed that they are the best. I think that the best way of proving that is to have a clan tournament.
For example, each clan have to send 3 members of their clan to compete in the competition. Each member will head 1 on 1 aginst each member of competitor clan. A clan with most wins go through. Make it a knock out tournament. It's a bit like a Japanese sport call KENDO. They have many teams competing like this. Any opinion or suggestion anyone?

May the brave samurai live,
Ratta Yamamoto (Daimyo of Ratta Clan)

(Ratta clan emissary)

Go for it TheForce, i would even be ready to help you.... Keep us posted.

The tourney could offer different categories, 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3, Low koku (under 2000) etc.....

Would anyone else be ready to help TheForce

I'm pretty sure that .org will back you up with whatever publicity you need if you should decide to go ahead with your project TheForce + if you need any advice on how to get things off the ground contact Zen Blade, or Elmarko they have both run tourneys in the past.

Well at the moment l will try and redesing the entire site from scratch. I shall have a tourney page on ready for the tourney. Well l am thinking a 2v2 tourney cause 2v2 fights are better. Every clan is allowed to have 4 members(2 teams).
Well there are some question here:
1.What you think should be max player number in the tourney.
2.Is a point system best( eg. win +3 points) or a take out system and the man who wins moves on?
3. I also need some guys to see how things are going when players are fighting. How many shall l need and will you guys help.
As far as the info about the tourney l shall updating the site all the time with latest results and making a cool league system http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
There will be info and rules about the tourney.
I am hoping to host it in mid June when the new site will be up and l shall have time to do things right.

Well Force, it's great that you are going to host a clan tourney. Go for it, man. I'm sure it will be great. I would like to help but I never have a tourney experience before and I would like to compete in it if you host one (to gain some experience http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif ). Here are my answers to your question:
1. If each clan send 4 players then I will say 80-100. Any more than that may cause some problems to the server, like Tenki tourney did.
2. I, personally, don't like point and league system that much. I prefer knock out tournament because they are faster and more exciting.
3. As I said, I would like to help but I've never been in a tournament before and would want to compete in the next one.
But I think that you should keep the koku quite low if it's going to be 2v2 because if someone has slow computer, having many men on battlefield can make it real slow (I've seen plenty of that), and it would slow dow the whole tourney. May be the koku should be about 2,000-3,000.
Why don't you consider making a tournament of 1v1 but 3 players each team, the team with most win out of 3 wins. In Japan this is how each Dojo (swordsman training school) compete against each other. They send their best 3 or 5 students to compete. A Japanese sport call KENDO (wooden sword fighting) also uses this system. I thought it might be a goos idea beacuse this is how Japanese samurai used to compete as a team (when not at war) and I don't think there's been a tournament like this bsfore so it might be interesting.
Anyway, Ratta Clan is ready and welcome to help your clan throught out the tournament just let us know. Our website is www.rattaclan.homestead.com (http://www.rattaclan.homestead.com) We have quite a few members and some are very commited and friendly (like KumaRatta, YunRatta, and myself).

Let us know if you need help

i think 2v2 it is!
3v3 sometimes to laggy, and more dropes

min 5k each player
and plz use old maps, not hachiman, its to buggy, many autorouts, slowgoing, dont going.......

if there are 100 players a knockout system is the best, coz ist fast

Well l shall see about the number but no way above 100. A knock out sounds cool but someone good might lost because of bad luck. Anyway l shall go for it. Think Totomi will be the best or Green. All serious shogun players have green l hope. Or l can make a map for the tourney!!!(don't know for sure yet). But l would go for totomi.
Well the much koku can't do any harm cause from 5000 to 10000 their is no change cause there are the 16 there.
Also not more than 5 same units to avoid monk rushers. Thanks for the tips guys. Also l would like to go for a long tourney where players don't fight all at the same time to avoid drops and overload the server. I shall start making the official rules. All here sre some thoughts. There will be rules and all that stuff in the site.

Hey Force, so are you going to make it 2v2? I think it's best if koku is no more than 5,000. Any more than that will be too much. I agree that using Totomi map is the best.
To avoid good players having bad luck. For each round players should play each other 2 times (Defend once and attack once). If they both win once each, then see who has higher kill putting both games together. Do you get what I mean?
Anyway if you need any help just let us (Ratta samurai) know, we are more than welcome to help you. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Magyar Khan

Dear Satake,

i just stepped of my cloud to whisper to u that every attack made by eurolord is also indirect adressed to me. this for several reasons:
- the first attack months ago was adressed to koc AND me. If u know the whole history u wouldnt say such a thing.
- Koc is an Orlok of the Grey Wolves and is able to take decisions of his own, but we like to hunt together.
- Koc like it to share the ears of eurolord with me. It is an unwritten Clanrule that we share the enemies ears by the fire.

Furthermore it suprises me that u make these kind of comments (again). It would be wise of a member of Kenchikuka not to interfere in clanmatters like this.
And as a Mongol Khan I say things when and where i want.

Greetings

Well it was just meant as advice but as usual magyar cannot take such advice as he sees it as criticism . As to us conflicting magy , again as u say , if u keep pecking for fights u r bound to eventualy get one. Get over things Magy and don't try to have a finger in everything that is going on. As to me being a member of Kenchikuka.. So what? does that mean i gotta treat u differently than anyone else? not in my eyes. It was a good time when u served at Kenchikuka , I fondly remember the days we fought side by side. However u have changed alot , imo in the worse.

Now can we put all this crap behind us , u let koc and lord have THEIR fight and butt out and u will see that i will butt out too.

Once again the honourable Magy has to start another argument. The point in that was? This was just a friendly discussion about a tourny and San was posting in agreement with you! Why cant you let the whole argument go?

I ejoyed the Tenki tourney quite a lot. It also seemed quite well organised. I have very little in the way of advice or ideas to offer. But i'm sure the Tenki clan can think of some.

To Force,
In my opinion, definately a knock out tournament. It's much more exciting. Play two battle (1 attack 1 defend) to make it fair. The koku shouldn't be more than 5,000. If 4,000 would be great (2,000 per player of each team). This is because all the tournaments so far has always been high koku. We should try something new. And also because I'm sure that there will be many calns entering the tournament low koku will help to save time and make it run smoother.
Anyway, I hope this has help.

And, I'd say, make the map available within a day or 2 ONLY of the start of the tourney.

I think that is the best idea! That way, nobody knows the terrain going into the tourney! So, the vet wont have battle experience on that map, and will be in the same boat terrain-wise as the newbie. And, there will be very little time to actually play on the map to 'get acquainted' with it...
