As the title suggests I need a texturer to help me with the units. I can model them but can't texture them very well. I thought I better justify this by posting some screenshots of the units that I tried to texture. You can see them in the screenshots section. Any help is appreciated greatly as I think it will make the units look worthy of this mod. :medievalcheers:

I've never textured a unit before, but I'd like to try, I see there a a few tutorials I can read, just give picture(s) and info on a unit or a few, and the closest model (.cas or so) you have, and I'll give it a try.
I have RTW 1.0 .

Do you have a program you can view cas files in. If not then it is pointless me sending you those. It would be easier if I just tell you which unit I have edited (so the uv map is the same) and then you can texture that. Do you have photoshop? If not what program do you use? Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it ~

I have 3dsmax6, but I can't get Vercingetorix’s cas importer to import something, and I can't find any instructions, its homepage seems down. So I'd have little use of cas file (don't I need it to see my changes in RTW though?).

I have Photoshop, and Paint is often nice to work in.

BTW Are you sure the trousers on your units shouldn't be wider around the thigh? I don't know when that kind of trousers were introduced but they seem common on 16th century images.

Ok so if I send you the texture files in psd format that will be okay right? Well I have sent it to you anyway with some info about what needs doing.

The trousers on the units so far shown have not had the baggy pants but the rodeleros which wou will be texturing now do.

Thanks for all the help again ~

I've reduced the shade on the rodelero's (archero's?) breastplate. Result:

I can't make out what there rest of the textures in the picture you sent me is, can't find gauntlets etc. ~ I tried putting it onto gaul cav, but the textures got to the wrong places (it did look fun with a rider with no hands, face or weapon, and with steel braids. ~;) ).

Yeah it's based on the woad warriors but I had to enlarge the texture size to fit more stuff on so it won't work on any of the existing models. The breastplate needs to be a lot more shiny but you don't have to worry about that texture for now I will send you one for the gallowglass soon - I still need to sort out some uv map problems.

The other texture stuff is just in the top left hand corner, the red and yellow stripes are the top of the baggy pants and the red bit underneath that are his tights. The arm is to the right of that and he is not wearing a gauntlet at the moment but I can put that on. Anyway as I said the whole thing is flawed so I am going to repeat the model.

I have done a few adjustments to the armor for the new texture though

I've made a better cavalery lance.

I have made it look like the spear I saw on a drawing (http://www.shsu.edu/~his_ncp/Stradioti.html) of a stradioto (albanian cavalerist serving venetia), but it might work for any cavalry. I haven't managed to find any photos of spearheads or spearheels from 16th or 17th century though, so I'm not sure how correct it is.
I had the impression that a spearhead was juist painted on a rectangular surface.

I found a photo of spear at last ~:) , at this page (http://www.ceu.hu/medstud/manual/SRM/arms1.htm). Unluckily it's 15th century, hopefully spears didn't change too much. The head is very large compared to vanilla RTW spearheads, but such were the propotions in the original picture. The colours are just my guess, the original spearhead and -heel are too corroded.

Here's my progress a maille-texture, its from an mailleshirt at a museum. It's far from perfect right now I'm afraid.

Do send me cas-files next time, I found for the archero that it was difficult to work when I couldn't see the unit in action (custom battle that is).
