I would like to add some faction specific ancillaries. Looking through the text files, it looks a little much. Is there an editor that will let me add ancillaries as well as edit existing ones? Which files have to be modified to have the game recognize them and not ctd? Is there a tutorial I missed scanning the forums in this regard? All input and assistance is appreciated.

The Trivium released an ancillary editor for download here:

I've been using it today, and it seems to work pretty well, better than hand-typing in 3 different files (Data\export_descr_ancillaries.txt, Data\export_descr_ancillary_enums.txt, and Data\text\export_ancillaries.txt).

It doesn't seem to be writing the ancillary effects to export_descr_ancillaries.txt, though. I have to go back in and manually input them. I'm getting a CTD on RTW startup with my modified ancillary files, but I can't find anything wrong with them yet.

Here's a thread on tools:

Somewhere around here is a thread on ancillaries, called the Authoritative Guide to Retainers. I'll see if I can find it.

And I did:

I also cleared up the CTD I was getting when I started RTW. If you edit the ancillary files, you need to use Wordpad, not notepad. This preserves the proper encoding. Make sure the ancillary list at the end of export_descr_ancillary_enums.txt is not all on the same line.

Thanks for the info. I tried it for about an hour and got ctd three times. I'll try, again, when I'm not so tired. Your tips about Wordpad are right. Windows default Notepad got me in trouble. The thread about ancillary attributes is also good. Again, thanks
