Aint sure which name to take as it stands but I'll show the concept at least.

Campaign starts fictionally with all factions starting with a single province... all provinces start with a villiage. In esence all factions have an equal start with the only advtanges/disadvantages being their geographical location.

All factions use same starting unit build tree made up of simple warriors with no concept for formations. The contruction of a training yard allows for the training of organized troops.

List of Troop Types:
- Infantry
-- North Western
--- Small Peasant Band (30 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Large Peasant Band (60 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Foot Scouts (6 Men, Archers)
-- South Western
--- Small Peasant Band (30 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Large Peasant Band (60 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Foot Scouts (6 Men, Archers)
-- Eastern
--- Small Peasant Band (30 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Large Peasant Band (60 Men, Light Infantry)
--- Desert Scouts (6 Men, Archers, Move Quickly in Desert)

more to come soon...

Maybe you should use temples to create more unique units. I mean temples so that you can only build one type. So you might have a choice of three barracks, each producing a different unit, but you can only have one. That way, the player could choose how to develop his nation...

Thats a very interesting concept :) I'll try it out... I wanna get these basic town level units done first... im doing some new textures at the moment which is taking a little time.

I suppose it may be good in the sense of the player deciding what type of units they prefer... if you want to elaborate on the idea go ahead cus im open to suggestion... but I like the idea alot :) i guess the unit would have to be of a similar type but each with some individual strength/weakness.

on a side note: the ai stupidly uses the captains band. I've changed this now to a Command Standard Bearer (not available in campaign apart from it acting as a general's unit for slaves/rebels). I'm gonna try and make a new barbarian standard model specially for this unit.

I have now started the web-site, should be ok to put up by monday night since im in work tomorrow, along with it will be some screenshots of the new units and textures.

I've also considered using the hidden resource aspect of the campaign map so that certain special units can only be made in certain provinces. Scottish Highlanders and Welsh Bandits seem like favourites :) Other suggestions are welcome.

right i want to implement this idea but i cant see how the game removes the option of building the other temples after you've chosen which one you want... if anyone knows how let me know.

I'm not sure how temples cancel each other out. I think you can only have one type of temple.

If thats the case, you can still use it, the user must choose which line of production he wants. For example if he chooses the armoured unit rout, you will get armoured spearmen with the first temple, armoured swordsmen with the second, and armoured cav in the third or something like that.

Of course there would also be most of the units which can be built...

I think for the armoured spearmen you should have chain or scale mail, not plate, and make their shields round. All this can be done with the texture and it will make them look more individual.

To make the shield round i assume i can black out the area thats not used?? to therefore make the the round shield??

I'll have a bash at changing the armour to chainmail. the texture already has some so i can try to make a brush from it.

I had a thought with the temple usage. If possible, i could make it so that each temple provides a "technology" which is parsed in to create a hidden resource in that province. I can make then in each building that the requirement for that unit is the hidden resource. Therefore, if you choose the armour technology you can recruit armoured units from the respective buildings (poleturner, fletcher, swordsmith etc.). Alternatives could be enhanced light armour (faster lightly units) for example, i cant think of a third at this time but some kind of enhanced cavalry maybe cool.

I dont know the code however to add a resource to a region from a building.

British Armoured Spearmen

They wear chainmail now. The shape of the shield will be changed, detail to the legs will be added and I want to remove the feathers from the helmet.
