RTK Clan proudly presents World Clan Challenge (WCC) to the members of the Rome Total War multi-player community. RTK has been planning the WCC since the release of Rome Total War (RTW), however we delayed the start of this tournament until the RTW v1.2 patch provided a viable platform for competitive gaming.
The WCC is structured to provide fun through exciting gaming as well as being a test that is a true measure of skill. It allows for recognition of individuals and their clans. All members of a clan have an opportunity to play at a competitive level without penalizing the clan for letting their less skilled members have a go. The WCC is a perpetual tournament using a multiple ladder format, which provides a constant opportunity for competitive play while accommodating varying levels of player activity.
We have worked hard to apply to Rome what we have learned from the active participation of RTK in tournaments throughout the Medieval Total War era. We have taken what we believe to be the best aspects of many previous tournaments and have included all of what made them good, while attempting to remove that which kept them from being better. We at RTK are happy with what we have created and we hope that you will like it too.
Strength and Honour,
Clan of the Round Table Knights

WCC Tournament Summary
Clans must register a minimum of six players, spread among: three 1v1, two 2v2, one 3v3, and one 4v4 team. Additional 1v1 players and 2v2 teams may be registered by the same Clan without limit. The tournament format consists of four ongoing GSA ladders: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. Each ladder has points assigned to positions within the top 10 places. Ladders with a higher team number are given greater points. Clan Standings will be determined by adding together the Ladder Points of all players and teams from the same Clan across all four ladders. These Clan Standings determine who has the right to issue a WCC Title Clan Challenge and will govern the Clan Challenge matches in this tournament.
All Clan Challenge matches consist of a series of seven battles: three 1v1, two 2v2, one 3v3, and one 4v4. Player and Team Challenges may also be played on the individual Ladders, as well as non-challenge WCC Tournament games. All official Challenge games must be completed within two weeks of when the challenge is posted on the relevant GSA Ladder. Participants are obligated to fight only one official Challenge per fortnight, but can accept more if they wish to do so.
The game settings and format of this tournament attempt to make the game exciting and a true measure of clan strength. This is achieved through the following principles:
• Make many different factions viable to add excitement and to provide for depth of faction knowledge and use as a measure of skill
• Make many different units viable to add excitement and to provide for depth of unit knowledge and use as a measure of skill
• Make many different maps and weather conditions available to add excitement and to provide for depth of knowledge terrain and conditions as a measure of skill
• Reduce the need for pre-match negotiations, so more battles are fought and less time is spent on administration and negotiations
• Enhance the excitement of battle by providing for many unknowns in a battle environment
• Make battles as fair as possible while giving the challenger a slight advantage, so that the ability to move up the ladder rankings is provided
• Minimize the element of luck from battles so that the better player/team/clan is in most cases the victor
• Ensure that games run smoothly by avoiding settings that may cause in game lag
WCC Awards and Recognition
The World Clan Champion is the Clan that is champion of all other clans. The title of World Clan Champion is achieved only through a completed Clan Challenge. The World Clan Champion will be identified on the WCC Tournament Home Page and on the WCC Champions web page. While a clan is the current World Clan Champion, any member of the clan is welcome to wear the “ -WCC- ” tag at the end of their in-game name if they choose to do so (e.g., PlayerName-WCC-). The Champions Page will show the current World Clan Champion as well as all clans who have held the WCC title in the past. The Champions Page will have the Clan’s logo and a link to the clan’s web site and will be a place for all members of the Total War community to view the best of the best.
Ladder World Champions are those players or teams that are currently ranked first on each of the ladders: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. Current Ladder World Champions will be listed on the WCC Standings Page. While a player (or team) is ranked first on one of the four ladders, this player (or members of the team) is welcome to wear the “-WC-” tag at the end of their in-game name if they choose to do so (e.g., PlayerName-WC-).
Clan rankings will be determined once every fortnight based upon points earned by the players or teams from that clan which hold one of the top ten places on the four ladders. Current Clan Standings will be displayed on the WCC Standings Page. The top ranked clan has the right to challenge the World Clan Champion for the WCC Title, provided there is no current WCC Title Clan Challenge in progress.
