I don't know if this would be possible but may be EA can come up with an official map editor for a patch or some sort.

We've never heard anything (as far as I know) from EA/DT/CA about an official map editor.

I am currently working on a 3rd party map editor, but obviously it would be better if the original developers did it themselves http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

An Ea Editor would be good because of compatablity issues, officialness, etc

But our Rob is the best! Keep it up.

never seen a project on the editor from the original company.
Wouldnt make sense to plan an editor to change what they themselves have done.
It would mean admitting there's been some mistakes.

I rely on you, Rob http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
P.S.
Could someone tell me how to put the bmp with my face on the left ? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

In the historical text it does say that they are planning to make a editor. I dont know if thats true but it said it.

Keep up the good work Rob.

This summer I made an interview witrh Jason Fitzgerald on ShogunZone http://www.nipogames.com/shogun/ and he assured me that not one but MORE editors were planned.
Here's the link to the interview: http://www.nipogames.com/shogun/eng/interview_jason.asp

Since they never denied it, maybe we can still hope for some kind of official editor...

I wish people would do more research like that before posting up on these topics of editing and mods. It would cut down on all the wasted space around here. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Thanks for posting that Sonic_Nights, the check's in the mail. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

And i wish ppl to understand at once that original companies almost never do further developing after the commercial boom has gotten past and technial problems of first releases are solved (compatibility, major bugs, graphic/sound problems etc etc etc)
.
Madden 2000 is becoming old...and they have 3 patches, now there's madden 2001.

Falcon4 is old and has 2 official patches (6 unofficial and about to release the seventh).

Jane's F-18 (EA is in this too) only has 1 patch dated in APRIL and ea has abandoned the project though those who have matrox g-400 cannot play the game (i am among these unfortunately).

Mind all of you that the programmers of stw are already working onto another project that has nothing to do with stw.
I wish i could tell you that they will make it, but, alas, i am sure they won't http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif
I really wish i could.

At this point I too think they won't make one...
But I have to say that the shogun team is quite fair by continuing to support the game with regular patches. The next patch (1.13) is a good example on how they try to improve the game: you don't see often companies that try to make the graphics or the interface of their game better after several months from release.
Yeah, meybe they made some promises that weren't mantained but in the end I think they're doing a great job by supporting the community (keep in mind that shogun isn't a blockbuster like Quake or UT). Many great games out there didn't have this kind of support and were forgotten after some months...

ps. btw, I think they have another stw project in the works. A game based on Romans was quite possible but I don't know if they kept the project.

Eww! I've been quoted! Alright that's it, you're fired!
hehe...

Well, I think this and a lot of other melarchy would get cleared up if the Development team would ANSWER the questions that Erado-san sent them. It would also help if they would make even an unofficial announcement of their next project, and if they are going to carry this project past patch 1.13.
It's not up to us to determine when they are done with this game. For all we know they could have a buttload of surprises up thier sleeves, or maybe they did dump it and haven't the heart to tell us. I "think" they are working on all things and planning on continuing development on this series, but I don't "know" a damn thing about what they have planned next.
Enough speculating, let's see about getting those answers to our questions.
