Well, there were 3 guys, and one was (i seem to remember though not sure 100%) jstfeared...not just one guy talking about it but 3.
He was telling me that after a match he was accused of spreading the Trojan via multiplayer game. Of course jstfear told him he knew nothing about it and when he checked he saw he had the virus himself in 3 hogun related files.

I am a games developer (well, I'm studying to be one anyway http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif ) and I'm familiar with network systems. There is no way people are being infected through contact over multiplayer games. It seems to me that this is impossible. If anyone who has actually had first-hand experience of this would care to post the information here, perhaps we could get a better picture of what's actually happened.

There is a lot of superstition about computer viruses, but you CAN'T get a virus by playing a network game.

more than likely if there was an actual virus in some of the game files then they got that way through some other means, like email or a download somewhere. trojans are like rob said, they just cant be passed in multi games and even if they could they would still have to be in a file somewhere that would have to be opened by the recipient. so just because someone finds a virus after playing stw doesnt mean he got it thru stw. it just doesnt work that way. otherwise, the internet wouldnt even exist due to such a proliferation of viruses as to make it unworkable.

Another theory is that a virus scanner might be accidentally picking up legitimate files and identifying them as viruses. I spoke to someone in the EA lobby who said they were finding the 'Kak' worm in their log files. The 'Kak' worm is a JavaScript-based virus, hence can be included in text files. It needs the file it is contained in to have a certain file extension (.HTA I think) to work at all.

What may be happening is this: Something naturally produced in the log files appears similar to a virus, triggering the virus scanner. This is a big problem because so many viruses these days are text-based, and virus scanners have a very hard time distinguishing between real viruses and innocent files.

I still reckon it's nothing to worry about, a minor inconvenience at most. If it causes people big problems, raise it with Richie (The Shogun), either in a thread here or e-mail him directly.

well, i checked for viruses myself to no avail.

yes it was the worm virus...right. i remember.
as to the txt, then maybe the virus gets active after the multiplayr session is over and the log is created
