Purpose of log file viewer?

I was looking at some websites and some of them had log file viewers to download, one even said the log files are in "not so easy to read format." I just open them with notepad. Why bother with a viewer?

Maybe because it organizes them better. In my Notepad those line widths are always FUBAR, it takes a lot of work to find out which of those 1's is the honor rating, which one the armor rating and possibly which one the number of kills, especially with 120 man units when you can't even see the headers. It's not a necessity (in fact, I'm not using one at the moment), but it makes your life one small bit easier.

The logfiles are those ugly pieces of documents that record all your stats of your campaign/custom/online games.

Now the logfile reader processes these data into a much clearer, easy to follow information.

Now why they're there? So...
From your mistakes you can learn and improve. Through the logfile which records kills/losses and other stuff finding your mistakes is easier.
