Shadow, send it to the Daimyo, he can package it with other maps. I thinks he likes it if ppl put a little written description of their maps.

perhaps we need a group who rate the maps and a site to put them on with their rating

and we need some rules of making the maps and the names we give them...

Konnichiwa,

Maps can be uploaded to the org, like any maps made with the demo-editor. I'm making a document about how to make a mapzip file.

Expect some changes in the mapsection soon. I'm dutch, so our American and Taiwanese friends have the mapeditor long before I have it. That made it a bit difficult for me to get this ready in time, I'm very sorry.

i would say mapmakers and uploaders must make a minimap picture as well so we can see what map it really is like i did on the campaign site...

I think we all should rate the map or something (whether or not the map is good enough). Otherwise, there will be millions of maps for people to download.

Presumably the upload function is working now then. I'm a bit unsure what to do with htis, but i think it belongs in editing and mods. See it HERE http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=5&SUBMIT=Go)

tosa has indeed done up some very nice pages for the new maps section. i've previewed them and i believe he's also got them posted now. at the very bottom, and i'm CERTAIN you'll all read everything before going there, is a little hot button for actually uploading the maps to the .org. bear in mind that this only uploads it, it doesnt post it on the custom maps list. tosa reviews all maps first for bugs and viruses before posting. so TEST your maps first if you want them posted. buggy maps WONT be posted.

also, a hearty thanks to tosa who has put in MANY hours in making these pages and reviewing our maps! thanks tosa :)

re a maps preview/reviewing section. you can already see a bit of this on kiku's pages. see the links section for his addy. i've also been offered a spot on the .org for a 'maps section', but i havent done anything with the offer yet...we'll see. what i had in mind was a page(s) that wouldnt post the map and wouldnt rate it, but would show some larger screen shots, maybe multiple shots to get a better idea of how it looks, and then simply review it without rating it..i aint no critic, i work for a living. but a simple text review just saying what's there might be nice. we could also put up a tips and tricks faq on the editor itself.

btw, thanks ca for including docs! nice :)

Feel free to email me your maps and other goodies. I already have a big chunk of my Mongol Invasion/Warlord Edition section up, and if you take a look, there's already a Map Reviews and News area in place.
The new WL/MI maps section will be up tonight as well. Only have 4 maps so far http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Now, about rating and reviewing maps.
I don't think that there will be an official body or representative to do that from any one site. I'm sure we'll all do a bit of rating and reviewing though.
It's up to all of us to keep ourselves and our fellow fan sites, and fellow players abreast of the current developments.
I will now be making 2 different Map Packs at least twice a month. Depending on how things go with the original STW, that may end up only being once a month for it.

Everyone who wants to be involved will need to adhere to the agreed upon guidelines if they want their maps featured at the big sites; PTW and the Org especially.

I'm sure that Sonic Nights, Lanza, and the other major STW fan site webmasters will agree with what TosaInu, Kraellin, Me, and the other "Mod & Map Whores" have come up with as far as the standard operating procedures for public distribution go. The "Tag" idea, for map creators, is excellent. It's a S.O.P. in many popular modding communities, and it will need to be done here as well.
Consider this, in one year without a Map Editor of the sort that we have now, 102 maps were made available via The Org and PlanetTotalWar. Now, we have a tool that willmake it easy for anyone to make a map within minutes! How many maps do you think will be made by this time next year?

We won't dictate these things to you all, but if you want your maps, tools, and other mods to appear enmass at our sites, or in the Mod or Map Packs then there will need to be a S.O.P. for things.

So far the "Guidelines" are spot on and logical enough to suffice.

Other things that weren't mentioned in the Guidelines will be mentioned in future updates to that document. We're all currently trying to figure out more details and address some other tough issues that have landed in our laps.

Until then, register your map making name tag and have fun with it already!
