Hi Adherbal and all others palying Chivalry TW mod for RTW. I know that you already have at strategic commander site posted this, but I thought that it wouldn't be nothing wrong if I posted this here too.

yeah, I gonna have trouble keeping it up to date :P

I should make a php/mysql interface to do it automatically, but my webspace doesn't support it :(

I do belive that something can be done here. Do you have still saved all the ladder points so far?

I suggest you oppen two ladder topics here at .org if moderators are ok with this.

In one topic we would be setting matches and in the other topic only tabels with current results will be posted. (it would be good you would be able to edit this post)

This can be also done at SCC forums. If anyone has any better idea, is free to post here.

Not sure how many are playing and if its needed at all, but we can easily create a seperate forum for the mod.

atleast 10 people are playing the mod frequently, and 5-6 others on occasional base. That number should (hopefully) increase a lot with the release of next beta in July.

a MP subforum here would actualy be very usefull. SCC is great for mod development but it's not the best place for MP discussion (too few true MPs around). And currently the dev forum feels very crowded with all sorts of topics, so if we could move the MP discussion to some place else that'd be usefull.

PS: everyone who frequently plays our current beta in MP will be granted the right to beta-test the next release. So even those who care more for SP now have a reason to help the MP part of the mod ;)

I've just found out, that on official CWB site, we also have a topic for our ladder.

I would like to thank YellowMellon and Kanuni who allowed us this.

This mod really is something. I don't want that all community needs to play this mod. All those who miss MTW or still playing it, this mod is for you. With better graphics.~;)

Balance is made very good and all other issues addressed as well. (as much rtw engine allowes)

Do remeber what I have posted once about TW MP community. Don't forget that. ~:grouphug:

Everthing ok now. We are ready. Anyone who is interested is free to come. Do remeber that if you are interesed to play this or any other mod, copy RTW default folder, so you will have to copies of RTW.

Mod only copied RTW folder, the original folder is untacted. Then you are playing as many RTW types you want.

Just started playing Chivalry total war mp yesterday, I am still unfamiliar with lots of things so I did a few test. The games were great, allows more tactical depth. Thanks Sid and Robert for the games and advices.

Note all test are done with the General units posing as archers, busily shooting at each other and not interfering with the actually results lol. ~D

Test1: 2 units of knights frontal charge against 1 (Varangian/swabian) by a h2h. All three have 1 valour upgrade.

Result: (Varangian/swabian) started lossing badly but eventually routed both the knights units.


Test2: Upgraded militia sergents(equall in cost of men at arms) pit against men at arms with 1 chivalry.

Result: They creamed the men at arm nicely.


test3: Same militia from test 2, against knights with 1 valour.

Result: Militia can slaughter stationary the knights REAL fast. But knights can still break easily if they were charged.


Test4: 3 of the same Militia from test 2 and 3 against 3 men at arms with 1 valour each.

Result: 2 units of Militia at the flanks are winning, but the militia in the middle were losing, eventuall routed and cause the other 2 militia to rout.
But there were mix results, sometimes after the middle militia routs, the other two stays and fought and win the battle routing all three of the men at arms.
Very Interesting results.


Test5: after couple more 'test 2' I expand the frontage of men at arms giving them with 3 ranks, the unit still have 1 valour. I pit the same upgraded militia against the men at arms. .

Result: Men at armys win consistantly


Test 6: New test on Varagian guards(1 valour) on other units like upgraded spears, upgraded militia, swabian(1 valour), men at arms(1 valour), crusaders, knights(1 valour).

Results: Win all, but on par with swabians, sometime winning sometimes losing.

Will be doing some more test on Musilim factions. Right Know I am trying to figure out the uses for different european units.

I think this is really a good multiplayer mod, the units are well balance, just hope that they can continue developing the game.

Hope this would start some tactical or games mechanics discussions.

I usualy try to image how well unit X would perform against unit Y, and make their stats accordingly. I also have a txt file with fixed stats based on unit equipment. For example scalemail gives 6 armour, chainmail 8 armour. Because I have an idea about how effective a unit should be it's also fairly easy to balance it's cost. Of course it always takes real playtesting to get the balance perfect.

Note that militia sergeants will be moved to the high era. I had trouble imagining what they really represented. "sergeants" are the servants of knights, so "militia sergeants" didn't seem to make any sense, especially for early era fairly armoured polearm units. So in the high era they will be turned into "town guards", a heavier version of the Urban Militia.

Next beta 2 handed weapon units will also get higher lethality (= better charge impact), but lower rate-of-fire. As a result they should get a more unique role as shock troops.
