View Full Version : Really Big Project, Attention Mod Makers, Join the Team!!!

The Daimyo

I'm looking to enlist the services of no less than 5 and no more than 20 able minded people for a project for this game that will take quite some time and effort to conceive.

This is big, really big, so only those that can commit to it over a period of 2-4 months should apply.

It may even go longer than that depending on how far we can go with it all, and other factors.

Please let me know if you are interested by contacting me personally via email, and then we'll see about including you in the team!

Send Email to: thedaimyo@planettotalwar.com

There will be positions for the following open:
(including lead positions for what's listed here)
Visual/C++ Programmers
Perl/CGI Programmers
Visual Basic Programmers
3D Artists
2D Artists
Map Makers
Scenario Builders
Content Editor
Quality Assurance Manager
Beta Testers
Localization (need at least 10 languages covered)
and more!

You don't need to be a "Pro", but it helps.
If you know your way around any of these positions, tools, or applications, and have something to show for it, PLEASE make yourself available for this project.

Thanks!

Zat would be prudent... I could lend a hand if I knew what I was getting myself into... Some of us gotta work for a livin' (since we didn't win that Powerball jackpot), so that means time be a-hard to come by at times... But if youz looking for 'full-time' code-machinists, then I will have to pass... On the other hand, if 1 hour a week is OK, then perhaps we can talk...?

Well, I'm in, if I'm needed. I have as good an understanding of the game mechanics and modding/editing methods as anyone here, except maybe the actual game developers, and those are my main skills that are relevant to this game. I think I would probably fit under categories Scenario Editor, Content Editor, and Beta Tester, if I had to be classified.

Anyway, when my Archive on STW Modification v1.1 and ACW Mod v1.0 become available today, they will be the best hard evidence of what I'm capable of. So you guys can take a look at them and decide if I would be useful.

I can certainly be a beta tester if you'll have me. Qualifications include being a moderator of GD. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Just tell me what the heck this is all about first.

Maybe I can do maps, but I have no experience.

Glad to see such a lively response here already. I can't tell anyone here what the project's (s') all about yet, only the people who are going to be doing it will know. I may even have those who work on the project sign NDA's http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

In a nutshell, it won't be full time work for any of you, and as far as I know it's NP (non-profit). If things work well enough, ya never know what may come later. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

The project will be done on a "need-to-know" basis for those involved, at least until it's almost done. No announcements will be made to the public on when the projects will be delivered, but there will be a site for it when it's ready.

Everyone who is a part of it will be given a certain amount of clearance, based on your working position, to access areas of the site and the resources we will have in a given area for those who need it.

Discussions about the project will take place in a private forum.

Those who email me, you will recieve an email back from me within 24 hours of having sent yours to me. Please make sure to specify what you'd "really" like to do, or are good at. I know some of you here, or your work, but there are those of you that I don't, and I will need to see that you are motivated and capable.

Right out of the gate, I already have some favorites, new and old. That doesn't mean that I'm going to pidgeon-hole anyone into doing anything they don't like, and I am very open to new ideas and suggestions.

Nobody should concern themselves with their working position or status thereof. One of the most important jobs on this big project, surprisingly enough, is being a translator!

The cutoff for applications, is Friday. I would like to have the ball rolling by then, with the group.
In case you're wondering what I am doing on my end, here's what I am handling, and will be handling:
Everything! No seriously, I will make sure to try and do everything on this project, as much as the rest of the group. I will also be pulling the weight in positions that aren't listed, but may be available to some of the people who are qualified to do them.

Keep those emails a'comin!

I'd be willing to do some quality assurance, and game balance testing. I check the Dojo a few times a day and try to play as often as I can, and I've made the honour list.

I've got quite a history with playing games, even back to the days of Avalon Hill (when we used boards and cardboard chits for units). I'm interested mostly in play balance, to highlight the realism in tactical play, but I'd also be interested in modding the strategic portion of the game, including port raids and balancing hordes.

Cheers, and good on ya folks.

We'll need translators for all of the wide-spoken/read languages.

Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French, Swedish, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Portugese. English we've got for sure. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif It'd be nice if we had a few more of the popular languages covered, but it's not mandatory or necessary at this point.

So far I have heard from several of the individuals on the team that say they can translate just about every language up there, minus Russian and Korean. Perhaps we'll be lucky enough to land a few more multilingual folk on the team so we can have all the bases covered.

Vanya, what's your email addy? If you sent your application to me then I should have added you to the list, unless you didn't let me know who you are here, in which case I would send you a letter back asking who you are.

if i can i will try and participate, but right now all i can do is create pencil and paper drawings, and possibly beta test. but you see, my parents aren't letting me use the computer until 1st quarter ends and i have good grades http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif i still think i could do some sketches for basic character/unit outlines if its needed, and i can also create maps.

The Daimyo
08-30-2001, 10:01
OK, so far we have at least 22 people on the team. I'm going to go over the 20 person limit becasue I realized we need extra people in certain areas. I have still not recieved word from those that I have invited personally, so I can only assume that either they are thinking about it or they don't want anything to do with it.

Either way, the deadline stands and I don't want to make any exceptions after it's up so please - even if you can ONLY be a attend for a portion of the project - do offer your services for what parts you can contribute for.

Thank You!

Looks like you guys'n'gals are really busy..

I'm available for Beta testing if required as I put in a lot of hours on-line.........

Also willing to give the maps a try........

Other than that I'm afraid I am otherwise talentless in the behind the scene's work.

Good luck.

Don't worry about not being 18. I'm okay with it as long as you are. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

IF any of you haven't recieved an email from me, in return for the one you've sent me, then let me know. I have around 25 people listed in my Warlord Team address book entry, and I'm going to guess that we'll top out at around 30 total by Friday night.

After that we should be well under way with things. Please make sure to go by the Tea Room and check in with the gang, and also read up on the latest discussions.
