I've been looking and listening extensively for the perfect(or nearly perfect) combo of songs for STW in classical form. So far I found two great songs to replace tension 1 and battle 1.

First of all, get the Gladiator sound track. If you don't have that, then get imesh software at www.imesh.com (http://www.imesh.com) which is basically the same as napster http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Get the two mp3 songs from the soundtrack called "strength and honor" and "the battle". Convert them to .wav format if you have the software. Now just rename "strength and honor" to "tension 1" and "the battle" to "battle 1". For "the battle" it may sound better to make the first 60 seconds or so to replace "mobilize 1", but it's late and I haven't tried yet http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

"the battle" song sounds so cool because it's fast-paced classical and makes you want to smash through the other army http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I'm looking for more, and I might take parts of Ride of the Valkries and put them in. If you've changed the music and found good combos plz let me know.

Enjoy!

Where can I download software that will allow me to convert those files to MP3 format? I'll try and figure it out myself but if you have the time post.

Thanks.

My picks for modified sound files - after experimenting with several substitutions for the wav files I settled on the following:

Mobilize 1.wav: second half of "Cursum Perficio" by Enya
Mobilize 2.wav: "Marco Polo" - Loreena McKennitt
Mobilize 3.wav: "Prologue" - Loreena McKennitt

Tension 1.wav: "Future Remembered" - Track (5) from the soundtrack to the Terminator (this is awesome, very menacing and atmospheric)
Tension 2.wav: "Carmina Burana: O fortuna" Carl Orff
Tension 3.wav: "Terminator Arrival" - Track (2) from the soundtrack to the Terminator
Tension 4.wav: "Betrayal and Desolation" Braveheart Soundtrack
Tension 5.wav: "Rannoch Moor Suite" Rob Roy soundtrack

Battle 1.wav: "The Battle of Stirling" Braveheart Soundtrack
Battle 2.wav: "Falkirk" Braveheart Soundtrack
Battle 3.wav: "The Terminator Theme" soundtrack to the Terminator

I would be interested in hearing anybody's suggestions on music that makes the mood for the game!
