Hi guys. Can anyone send me the wave files from the demo of Shogun for the Arrow effect suggested by Tone

I left my PC to download the 100MB demo last night on my 56K. When I came to unzip it it was corrupted.

If anyone could, Id be really grateful http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks

The misc file server seems to be down for a while, so I temporarily put it in the beta folder. I think this is what you need.

i just loaded the arrow WAVs into the file, but now am curious about how to Shogun is going to access them. just dumping files into the folder doesn't seem logical, is the game programmed to look for and use these if they're found?

Konnichiwa,

What humble me knows about this game, is that it uses files when they are of the same format and have the same name. I haven't tried these wavs as I wouldn't notice the difference. But the readme claims that you can just put them into that folder, it's dan sama who says that. And if it's a matter of 'forget' to put them in, it wouldn't surprise me if there's some game code that looks for them.

At this moment I'm editing a Lbm (paint deluxe) file. When I save it in PSP 4/5/7 it grows from 30 kb to 55 kb (same dimensions, colordepth etc) and stw can't use it anymore: it tries to and the result is horrible.

PSP can either safe it un- or compressed. Uncompressed results in a 60 kb file.

It might be that the developpers used another compressionmethod.

Another possiblity (I'm only speculating here) is that the Lbm I try to edit is a 'raw' Lbm and that graphic programs like PSP can read it but that the put 'junk' in it when they save it.

Make a slim HTML page with wordpad, open and save it with Netscape composer and you might understand what I try to explain.

I used a hexeditor to compare the original Lbm and the one exploded by PSP. There was a huge amount of identical lines in both (I think a compression method would not do this). I deleted the part in the PSP which differed from the original Lbm and saved it (where it started to differ till the end), so I might also have deleted 2nd, 3th etc identical parts).

The result was a Lbm which showed a part (about 30 lines) of the image as it should be (color/shape), it repeated that line and it showed some lines that had the proper shape but wrong colors.

So in theory it might be possible to edit the Lbm in PSP, save it, remove junk with a hexeditor, safe it and get a functional Lbm for stw.

Perhaps any of the graphic experts here know a graphic application that can safe 'raw' Lbm?

About the same goes for TGA. I received some mappreview pictures that were 100% ok in PSP, including colordepth, size. But STW refused to display them. Only a resafe of those files with PSP (without any editing) resulted in a 'functional' preview.

try Irfanview to get these files open and preserved/compressed better than PSP. It isn't as easy and flexible as PSP, but you might get better results.

Krast us using the arrow sound now and it is fun.

Also, Krast has done other editing of the table.cfg to mix up some sounds and above all to make the probability more so they happen more frequently.

Gah! Now Krast's Evil Army creates a blast of noise, firing guns and chopping heads off!

Lots of fun, thanks to those who took the time to finigular out how and post it.

Gah!
