Yeah yeah - this is kinda pluggy - but hey - you all asked for it so here it is - the beast weighs in at over 8 megs compressed - 22 megs installed!

This one's for STW, MI, or WL editions!

I made 2 versions - as usual - EXE with Uninstaller and then there's the ZIP version.

142 maps - both Demo Editor and X-Pack versions included! You'll also find an updated Historical Text file that will work with all versions - I believe.
That's all of them up until yesterday - that have been submitted and posted.

Please take a stab at it and tell me what you think. Hopefully it will be put up here at the Org in a few hours. Perhaps by this time next week - everyone will have it!

PC Gamer UK wants to add it to their magazine's cd-rom edition -that they ship out all over the world! That's mighty tasty sounding to me! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Thanks to all of the map makers for your hard work - soon you'll be seeing your name in lights! (or at least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that your maps and words made it onto a disc that people all over the world can get ahold of!) NTM - I am serving them up 24/7 at the PTW site! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I'll have more info and news on other goodies pertaining to this and other developments - later today/tonight.

Banzai!!!

Here's some of that email that the guy from PC Gamer UK sent me earlier today:

"I'm downloading the full pack now and this will take pride of place in our addons section on both our DVD and CD edition of PC Gamer 103 which goes on sale in the UK on Tuesday 23rd October. As this is such a bumper pack with so much too offer I'm gonna try and get you a hit on the CD cover and a mention in the mag, as well as a hyperlink and plug on the disc itself."

That was from Mark Sutherns, the Disc Editor at PCG UK.

Yay! Now nobody can say I don't plug the damn Map Packs enough! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Yeah, props The Daimyo, good work.

By 'Historical Text file' do you mean the map text files?

No, it's the text file for the stuff you read pre-battle in the Historical Battles area.

I've concluded - at this time, that doing a "maps.txt" file for STW is impossible. With only 60 descriptions done at this time - I have tested it numerous ways - no go.

The map.txt file is limited to a certain size, I think, or perhaps there's something else amiss. I couldn't get the STW game to list the maps when I had more than a few added into the maps.txt beyond the original ones.

There may be hope yet - but it may require "special" help. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
