Really great

Do you have screenshots of them ingame ? Do you plan to use faction colors ?

I'll update with some ingame screens, np..

I have tried to use faction color to some level. You should be able to see the diffrence between your and other's unit's in a fight. Some special unit's will use the same skin, every unit i make for the vikings will have some traces of the faction color. These unit's are Norwegian, and have diffrent degrees of red in their cloth and shields.

Every unit will allso have their own uniqe shield design for each faction.

Well, quite frankly, I don't like faction colors, so everything's fine for me if you just use different colors schemes and shield designs for your units :)

I agree with Meneldil. Faction colours should be kept to a minimum.

@ King Ragnar
As you can see, the shield on the Viking spearman is big. This unit is ment to form the bulk of the viking Sjoldborg/Shieldwall. The landsmann on the other hand, who is an offencive shock unit, has a smaller shield to be more agile.

The vikings used pretty large shields. I have seen some of them in museums, and most of them were 80-90cm wide. (some eaven bigger)

If you compare the size of the spearman's shield to hes body, it's about half hes hight. The average hight of a western man is about 180cm, so that makes the diametre of the shield about 90 cm.

EDIT: Oh, you wrote "on the archer" :dizzy2: , it's the same size as that of the birk. spear, and smaller then most of the ithers, it's just that the archer on the pic is posed a bit crumbled (see legs) making the shield look relative bigger..

Cheers!

Very nice, though presonally I would like some variation in the hemet shapes.
Something like this for example: http://www.jelldragon.com/images/jk_spangen_helmet_sn.jpg

Well, there are three different styles right there, including the one you of which you made an example...

There will be changes in the helmets. I have pictured those "pointy" helmets for the farankish, and norman soldiers... I still got alot of viking units to do, so there can be plenty of styles.. but just keap those syggestions comming, it's easy to get stuck in on style..

Not sure if you've done any work on it so far, but as I'm sure you know the horses of the vikings were pretty much the same as those you would see on Iceland today.
On the other hand if the viking cavalary was recruitable only outside of Scandinavia, the size would make sense and would it simulate the fact that vikings didn't take horses along with them all too often.

The Vikings usually used two types of horses. One for riding, and farming called Dølahest in Norwegian. This was a big strong horse suited for hard work in rough terrain. Norse pople allso thought of a big strong horse as a good ridinghorse, but these horses wasn't at all suitet for the speed and agility needed in combat.

They allso used a very short breed of the Islandic horse. This horse was strong, but very short, and was suited for seatravel. Other horses wold often loose their balance and break legs in rough seas.

(Gangerolf of Normandy probably rode one of these short horses.)
