You are correct High and Late are seperate types
But
Try as I might I cannot get HighRoyalKnights to appear,
I just reinstalled your pack into a fresh copy of mtw,
and still no joy,

please recheck your download and see if anything is missing,
I'm going to make another fresh install of mtw and check again.

at the moment, If I type HighRoyalKnights into the adf, they don't appear on the map.

I just watched mtw load, i can't watch internal processing, but i can watch what files it loads as it initiates and as it loads a battle,
While it found the other five new knight units you created it does not recognise or try to load HighRoyalKnights.

Perhaps High and Late are the same after all,

ALSO I can find no reference to HighRoyalKnights in the
crusaders_unit_prod11.txt
file.

We do know different versions of the demo exist, DrNo has an earlier version than mine, the red zones are different,
It now appears there may be differences in unit tyes as well.

Still Five new Knights for me to play with is Excellent work,

I have highroyalknights in my prod 11.txt
unit 106.I have v.1 from pc gamer uk.
I have more units to over 80 in total at the
moment and I am not finished.I will upload

I have both demo versions and did some checking of this a while back.

Yes there are differences between demo's for the Royal Knights.

Demo V1 has Early, High & Late versions.
Demo V2 just has Late version.

DD, confirmed that Early, High and Late were in full game so Demo V2 is just missing them.

I also (finally) got around to making a Highland Clansmen Icon,

I'll keep working on the rest of LordKrazy's new additions when my eyes stop hurting...

I like the new icons for the knights,the
cross is a nice touch.Just figured how to
give the orderknights the right shields
but can't workout how to resize the tga
to fit the chivalric shield correctly
can you help?I am putting togeather some
more units is there any requests and don't
say arquebsier.Icons to follow soon.

Not entirely sure what you mean by resizing the tga files,

if you want to add shields to the facshields/highres/orderfootsoldiers folder use the chivalric sergents shield, they are the same size as the orderfoot shields,

if you mean you want to create the unit icons (similar to the ones i make) you need to convert the tga to bitmap and resize it,
BEWARE - just about every graphics program will make a little mess of the purple and green in the unit icons, you will need to test and re-edit a couple of times to track down the errant pixels,

ALSO, all should note, because of minor differences between various demo versions
(different download sites, and magazines)
MOST of the units Lord Krazy creates will work perfectly,

but every now and then one will not display its weapons of shields,

My version of the demo has done this with a couple of the units,

but before Lord Krazy started this project most of these units could not be used at all!

keep up the excellent work!

(at this rate we'll have the full version before it's released!!!)

no i mean that the shield tga in facshields
will only go with a item shield if the shape
matches i.e. if you put 3 in orderoffootsoldier_S.txt and you play as the
english or french you get a templar cross
if you put 4 you get the lions or the flur
because the canvas for order tga is no the
same size,know what i mean caus i barly do,
but i have put a big santiago cross on shields1 for the knights useing the highroyal
folder, i know you don't have it.I'll keep
trying.

I'm afraid i had to do a pixel by pixel edit for the welsh shields i created,
shading them was a real pain, but then they are so small it doesn't relly matter,

of your's just the swiss halbadiers, as mentioned

plus the spanish jinettes no shields, they have weapons, - i think you said you were having trouble with these?

(i never did get the HighRoyalKnights to work http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif )

But of the others,
there are about 35 or so i'll need to edit in and test,

right off the top of my head kerns, highlandclansmen, housecarls, pikemen

I'll do a few quickies and post straight away,
and HeavyJanissary are not implemented in the demo,

also if you have any more unit icons there is a list at my website of the units without icons, (these are the units that 'work' with the demo, but some may not have weapons etc.)
I suspect some are using 'default' bif's?

ok this is very simple but correct I think, to make a weapon appear for a unit
from the original units ,i.e. fuedalfootknights you create a weapons_W file
in chainHlm for the unit.Know if you open Weapons.txt you should see
5,192,49,199,1,3
180,216,228,232,1,3
136,234,225,248,2,3
112,251,226,253,3,1

each line is a weapon therefor if you have 4 strings you have 4 weapons to choose
from.So if you put 1 in the weapons_W file and if you have the correct folder in
items\weapons1 then you should get weapons1 displayed which is a straight sword
2=curved sword 3=poleake type thing (JanissaryHeavyInfantry) 4=lance
on my system I use 1,4 which gives me sword and lance ,I remove the files bar
fight.txt in weapons1 and replace the fight.txt in weapons4 with the stand.txt so you
only see the sword when it's mano a mano and you get the lance for charging but he
won't use it to fight . I also do this with hospitaller but not in my mod because I wanted
people to notice sword and lance togeather to know it was possable.
I hope this helps if not your version is not suitable
for moding new units I think .There are a couple of exceptions but I think that enough for
Know.

I've just been doing a little tinkering
and I realised that trubuchet, catapult and so on have no files in the items folder
quite possibly they should have!

(the demo tries to load files from the
\TEXTURES\MEN\ITEMS\WEAPON4\CATAPULTCREW\
folder - except it does not exst)

I was testing to see if 20 factions was the maximum limit,
it is - and it is not!
You can have more than 20 flags, and the demo will display them correctly,
but the demo has no idea whatsoever what to call the facshield files, it tries to load .tga - no name just the extension,
ALSO it simply loads a default campmap/shields bif file, AND all your 'valour' flags and unit colouring is black...
ah well - i wanted to make facshield and shield_bif and flags for the Tuetons, Hospitallers and Santiago's...as seperate factions!
ah well...

as for catapult weapons4 issue I believe
it's the melee weapon it refers to
i.e. peasant weapones.txt string4=sword

thanks to Lord Krazy's advice,

Seige Crew Weapons control files have been uploaded,

Catapult and Trebuchet will now have swords in their hands for mellee combat

order your crews to attack hand to hand by holding down alt and left clicking target,
they can attack h2h before they run out of ammo!

if men get killed and if they do something
other then that but they are more likely
to run away h2h so it's hard to tell

your files look the same to me although
if anything you got more

I need to know about fuedalfoot knights
did you have a fuedalfootknights_S.txt and
fuedalfootknights_W.txt in your chainhlm
folder caus I didn't and I didn't see their
weapons and shields until I put them there

that list is from the units the demo used in tutorial battles,

I erred in assuming all the required files were in place,

(my mistake - i figured if they used it in a tutoirial battle it would be completely functional)

now i will have to do a check for you and update the lisr,

Barocca send me your prod11.txt. I think it's where the problem lies.
For me to implament some of the remaining units I will have to change their
folder association in the prod11.txt .I have done this no problem already.
It may be a way around your problem.

As for some of the mounted arcers not displaying their bows until
they fire. Well i think this is because they hold them across their lap
so you can't really see them unless you have a good res or look
very closely, basicaly it's a bad animation sorry about that.

have just run a preliminary test with the new prod file
(nine units only tested)
results have been sent in email

will now check all other non functioning unts as fast as i can
will also check all non-functioing units for _w and _s files and get back to you as soon as i can

to avoid cluttering this thread I have sent you an email with the list of units that do NOT crash my demo, but ARE missing weapons and shields,

thanks to Lord Krazy's new prod file many units WITH _w and _s files now work,
I'm about to sit down and test the lot,
ONE Exception - Pikemen
Pikemen do not display weapons,
the _w file is pointing weapon6, a pikemen folder exists in weapon2 and weapon7,
also there is a shield file for pikemen(pointing to shield1),
but no pikemene folder in any of the shield folders


FIXED by Lord Krazy's unit prod file
Longbows

Note, I have not tried all the possible units from the prod file, - perhaps it would be easier if i send a list of _w and _s files?

I will also sit down and work out exactly which units with _w and _s files do work and send you a list of same, and a list of any that don't.
I have noticed that your files do not match the originals included with my copy of demo, and if i try the originals the units do not work properly.

Barroca.
put pikemen folder from w6 into w7 and you
got a pike.just make sure you got the unit folder in the weapons folder that coorisponds
with the number in the _W.txt

My files are not the same because I made them myself, by mixing and matching and existing bifs and actionpages and sometimes weapons and shields
folders and adding _W and _S files. I hope you understand what I am saying ,it's very simple really .
I will try to explain more latter because it's easier for me to read numbers,then to explain myself correctly .

Don't post prod until I make sure I gave you the original because I edited a couple
of things and then put it back togeather for you to test should be ok but
never assume and always prosper.

as for everybody else we are trying to iron out the bugs, the different versions of the demo look for folders and files in different locations, if we can find all the differences Lord Krazy can enable more of te units

OK the last folder has uploaded .

It contains GhaziInfantry ,after this you will just need a few "relatively speaking" tweeks and you will have 100 infantry/bow and cavalry units to play with ,until the game comes out next week .Which of course will be much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the rest of my actionpages have been uploaded, so you can have
the rest of the units bar 3 and the artillery . These can be implemented also ,but it requires a bit more arseing around , not alot mind you.

Last LKnewunits upload for demo is finished.
This is a compillatino of my _W and _S files which will help some of you to implament more weapons and shields.

This will probably be the last LK download for the demo
I have reached all my goals which were to enable the use off 100 units and to implament
most of their weapons and shields.

I hope this project has been of some use to you and most
of all I hope you enjoyed it.I would like to thank all those who have given me feedback
and support over the last week.So now that project (where are they) is over I shall
try to create some battles.
