OK, I've gotten a handle on the map editor. And then I can take my new map into the custom battle thing and put units on it. However, that's it. I can't do anything to make historical battles like came with the game.

Some items I have no idea how to do:

Alter the stats of the commanding general
Changing the name of the commanding general
Having other generals on hand but lower in rank
Altering the number of men in some but not all units
Have more than 16 units per side
Have reinforcements even with less than 16 units on the field to start with
[/list]

Anybody know how to do any of that stuff?

the online modding guide has all this data online, it was written for the demo,
but very little has changed,
i have yet to fully investigate all the new bits and pieces,

you are free to save the guide pages to your local machine,
when you get to the modding guide, there are 4 links across the top of the page, simply right click and save as, use the default name of the file,
then when you open the pages on your local machine they will still link to each other
