Possible to change strategic map?

I'm thinking of working on a strict lotr mod, and naturally, I'd need to create a strategic map of middle earth...is this possible given the current engine's technology? Any dev's who could answer this would be appreciated...thanks.

It's a begginning idea of a new LOTR mod - so someone already beat you to the idea. You should contact Mithrandir for more information.

This explains a little about remaking the strat map. It looks like CA might be bringing an editor out for easier use with mods, but it's not yet available.

i know its super nerdy, but i'm looking for a stricly lotr mod. they're sort of mixing and matching from d&d, warhammer, and lotr... and while that's bad ass, i'm one of those nerdcore guys who wants to stick to a straigh-out-of-the-novels type deal. thanks for the editing info, tho, i'll check it out asap.
