Golden Horde Mod?

Is anyone gonna make mod so you can be the Mongols in the campaign and/or custom battle?

Personally i wasnt planning to, but i'll tell you how to do it.

I think the horde only start off with lands in the late game, so i'll work with that.

1) Back up your late.txt from mtw/campmap/startpos, put it somewhere safe!
2) Open the file in wordpad scroll down about half way til you find a list of factions, each will be followed by 'FN_MAJOR' or 'FN_MINOR'
3) Find the entry on that list for the golden horde and change the word MINOR to MAJOR
4) Using this copy of late.txt in the startpos folder should allow you to select the horde as a playable faction when you begin a late campaign! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Once again though, make sure you have a safe backup of the original, apart from making it less devastating if you do something wrong, you'll also need it to MP unless you're playing people with the same mod.

Have a go it's surprisingly easy, i know nothing about coding and i managed it for the sicilians in early.
Hope this is helpful without being patronizing, if you have any problems doing it, ask im sure some kind soul will give advice!

Thanx wart, but how can i be them in custom battle. Though thier banner is there, when i click on it, my game crashes.

I've only really looked at the unit/building stat files and the campaign start position files. If its in these i havent noticed but IMO it sounds like the sort of thing that would be hidden else where.

I can only suggest, either, looking at the folder/file names to try and work it out where the changes for custom battles need to be made, or, making like a maiden in distress & hoping that a knight in shining armour wanders through this thread! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
