Hi everyone ~

I started a Lone City State campaign a few weeks ago but have given it up and now have started a 2 player PBEM Germania Homelands campaign with Tricky Lady.

The idea is to try and hold the Germania Homelands through the whole campaign and only sack and pillage other settlements to gain income.

Settings are Medium/Medium with Large units

Every 10 years we will post a brief summary of events with a few pics for your pleasure. Also every 10 years we will unfog the map to see which faction to attack if they are near completion of the campaign.

Okay, here is my part.

My ten year reign consisted mostly of making money by trying to sell maps, and get the most out of the "demand ceasefire" talks.

250 BC - winter
Samarobriva rebels, and will go back into Briton hands after two or three seasons.

The Britons send Lugotorix The Ordovices to negociate a ceasefire. Oriagasius the Mighty reluctantly accepts a ceasefire, and an additional payment of 2175 denarii to be paid by the Britons before the end of the next summer.

249 BC - summer
The Dacians backstab us and launch an attack on Vicus Marcomanni. Vannius sallies forth and fends off the cowardly attack.

A quick snapshot of the battle versus the Dacians.

https://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5135/germania1eu21oc.jpg

249 BC - winter
As the poor Gauls pathetically insisted, Oriagasius agrees to resume trade with the Gaulic Empire.

248 BC - summer
Ricburgis the diplomat sells the Germanic map info to the ignorant but friendly Parthians for 4 x 220 denarii.

Ariogasius ambushes a small stack of rebel naked fanatics between Alesia and Trier.

https://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5010/germania32ag.jpg
Setup of the battle. The naked fanatics will try to rush a unit of Screeching Women (set up north of the fanatics), but luckily my general and the other cavalry can intercept them.

248 BC - winter
A diplomat sent by the House of Julii offers an alliance. Messengers are sent to Ariogasius, our faction leader, and after long talks, the Germanic tribal leader accepts the alliance, if the Julii pay us 1000 denarii.

247 BC - summer
Map info is also sold to the people of Pontus for 1250 denarii.

247 BC - winter
The Britons sign an alliance with Gaul, and immediately break the ceasefire treaty by blockading the port of Batavodorum.

246 BC - summer
The Gauls send a stack (mostly golden-chevron peasants, a few warbands, and a barbarian cav as "captain") in the direction of Trier. They don't declare war, however, but Ariogasius, who's been informed by spies, decides to relieve the ambush he set up, and follows the intruding Gaulic army (who will, so he supposes, lay siege to Trier).

Ricburgis the Market-Trader sells our map info to the arrogant emissaries of the Ptolemaic Empire, for 1150 denarii.

246 BC - winter
Buia asks for Ariogasius' permission to marry a 53-year old ex warrior. Ariogasius refuses without a long hesitation.

The Dacians send another stack up north to attack the settlement of Vicus Marcomanni. Vannius intercepts the army, and sends them back home. Only a few survivors will live to tell the story of their defeat to their warlords.

It seems that the Gauls didn't want to lay siege on Trier, so they are moving up to Mogantiacum. Ariogasius catches up with the army, and a battle is fought before the gates of the settlement.

242 BC - winter
The Dacians send a diplomat to negociate a ceasefire. In exchange for a small payment (4200 denarii) the Germanic high warlord accepts the ceasefire.

Sorry for the lack of screenshots, but in the heat of the battle I usually forget to take screenies, as you've noticed.
