Hello to everybody,

As we can see in this forum the dark age MOD is moving quite well!
I believe that some of us should look at another MOD...for roman - punic wars...
Is anybody have started it or would like to?
if so please post a message.
I am willing to do research but I do not have time for modifying the files. So let's see if enough people are interested in doing this and if we can put together a team to start this!!!

If anyone attempts this, I can certainly help with the army compositions, nationalities, dress/uniforms, weapons/armour etc: - the Punic wars being one of my interests.

I would be interested in helping. Though I don't know that much about modding, or about the roman + other's military.

Very good site on the Roman Army and early Byzantium: http://www.roman-empire.net/army/army.html

I'd part of a much more extensive site but don't think you need to know much about architecture ..or do you?

Factions could & their Lands & "Ancient Names" could include:

ROMANS:
Rome (Roma)
Papal States (Latium)
Naples (Campania)
Toscana (Tuscia)

CARTHAGINIANS:
Tunis (Carthago)
Algery (Numidia)
Marocco (Mauretania)
Granada (Carthago Nova)
Cordoba (Iberia)
Valencia (Hispania Tarraconnensis)
Malta (Melita, I think)
Corsica
Sardinia
Sicily (Sicilia)

MACEDONIA
Serbia (Macedonia)
Bulgary (Thracia)

GREEKS
Greece (!) (Achaea)
Crete (Creta) [Note: though there were still many independent states, they were much more like a unity after Alexander's conquest. Still, this faction could be left out.

PONTUS
Trebizoid (Pontus)

PERGAMUM
Nicaea (Pergamum)
Rhodos (Rhodos)

BITHYNIA
Constantinople (Bithynia or Byzantium)

SELEUCIDS
Anatolia (Psidia)
Lesser Armenia (Cappadocia)
Rum (Galatia)
Antiochia (Antiochia)
Edessa (don't know http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif )
Armenia (Armenia)

PHOENICIA
Tripoli (Syria)
Jerusalem (Judaea)
[change the original Syria into Mesopotamia)

PTOLEMAIDS
Egypt (Aegyptus)
Sinai (Sinai)

GREEK COLONIES
Genau (Genua)
Provence (Massilia)

Of course, some of this could be left out, Phoenicia for examples, or toned down, i. e. no Cordoba for Carthago, or no Antiochia for the Seleucids.

The North is all Rebel, but STRONG Rebels. Tthe Gauls and Germanics were never able to make coordinate attacks. A celtic faction could be included where the italic faction is now.

looks very good for a start...
Before we go further, is anybody would be able to do the units design?
we should also maybe asign to the list of Proconsul people to do more research on the type of units and style of warfare.

I can take the seleucid army...
we should post here also the info we found so we can share things easily...

This map represents the period between the first and the second punic war - just to make that clear http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Maybe it would be best to reorganize Greece and the surroundings to include Epirs and Aetolia. Can this be done?

Just found it myself, so I can't really tell whether it's very good.

I guess I could do the Carthaginians from the info from the page i posted above. Also, I'd try to edit messages etc. to fit the setting. Someone'd have to mail me the English loc-files though, so they fit seamlessly into what's already there. You don't want to have German sentences turn up all of a sudden, I guess http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif .

Here is a VERY rough draft on the Carthaginian Army. It's very shaby work, but since I have no big experience in modding, I thought I'd hear your thoughts on it.
You'll notice, that there are no prices listed yet, though of course, this is the most important part for unit balancing. Again, I'd love to hear your input http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif.
