AMERICAN: TOTAL WAR

The two dominant wars of North America come to the Total War engine with the release of American: Total War. From the Lordz, the creators of the award-winning Napoleonic: Total War mod, this MTW/VI mod introduces two completely new eras to Multiplayer and Single Player Custom Battles, the American War for Independence and the American Civil War, each with new factions, new units, and entirely new sets of tactics. March to the sound of authentic Civil War or Revolutionary war battlefield tunes in both eras, as your men fight across the most beautiful maps to ever grace the MTW engine, the distinctive North American battlefield really coming to life thanks to careful environmental planning and a *completely* new American architecture.

American: Total War features:

* Two entirely new Eras, the American War for Independence and the American Civil War.
* Five new factions; the Americans, French, and British for the AWI era, and the Union and Confederacy for the ACW era.
* Dozens of new units with new statistics, animations, and all the rest, representing the various Regiments that fought during both periods.
* Two highly individualized playing systems; Do you enjoy the back and forth, fragile but fast fighting style of the AWI American faction? Or the powerful , deliberate, and yet slightly cumbersome AWI British faction? And when you choose between the Blue and the Grey in the ACW era, do you know when and where to use what troops? Do you plug the hole in the lines with boys from Maine or boys from New Hampshire? When the fire is fierce, do you send in the First Louisiana Zouaves, or Hood's Texas Brigade? Whoever the General may be, whether he be Lee or Grant, Jackson or McClellan, or Longstreet or Sherman, the commander that wins will be the commander that best knows his men.
* An entire [ATW] map pack, including not only dozens of generic North American themed battlefields, distinct with their woods and fields and amazing wilderness, but also a slew of historically inspired maps for both the AWI and ACW era. March at Shiloh, defeat your enemy at Monmouth, defend Little Round Top, or attack in Pickett's charge; the choice is yours. And whatever [ATW] maps you use, enjoy the entirely new Architecture, that replaces the buildings with truly American inspired buildings, from the flower lined farm house to the old red barn.
* With the installing of the ATW Music Pack, two completely different soundtracks, one each for the ACW and AWI era, each composed of some of the best battlefield renditions of the elegant and stirring martial fife and drums of the period.
* Many other little touchs and features we will leave you to experience and enjoy!

We hope that this first opportunity for multiplayer gaming to enjoy the recreation of the American War for Independence and the American Civil War gives you hours and hours of enjoyment in the Total War engine.

Before you proceed, make sure you know that this is a mod for NAPOLEONIC: TOTAL WAR. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING GAMES INSTALLED IN THIS ORDER:

Medieval - Total War
Viking Invasion
Viking Patch
NTW v5
NTW v503 upgrade

You may have future versions of NTW installed, but they are not REQUIRED. If you already have NTW installed, you can make a new version for ATW by simply copy and pasting it.

To install the game, simply download the zip, unzip it, and run the Installer. Follow the steps, making sure to install the game into the proper Total War folder. Remember, this will RENDER THAT COPY OF NTW UNPLAYABLE as NTW, so if you wish to continue playing NTW, you should have two installs; NTW and ATW.



Also, please contribute any comments and suggestions for future updates in the appropriate forums, as the ATW Expansion pack is already being thought about!

Here are some shots of a large confederate attack on a set union position from a 2 v 2 we recently played... I tried to convey the story of this flank of the battle, which AMAZINGLY the Union held, despite the entire flank at one point collapsing in rout except for two units of New Jersey infantry and the 5th New York, which had been sent as last second reinforcements... they held JUST long enough for the Union troops to reform in the woods and counter attack to victory.

Amazingly, the Union forces reform and their valiant men somehow see the massed CSA attack off, leaving just these men... notice the huge fields of dead on the far flank, as well as in the forest, where the Union troops made a desperate, last, successful stand!

Hey!

Yeah, I am sorry there is no campaign map... to be honest, a campaign with a new campaign map (north america) would take a while to put together since it uses NONE of the European bits and pieces, and the Artificial Intelligence is so questionable to begin with that it was thought it would be better to spend that energy on other projects, such as the ATW expansion and, of course, NTW2:)

Hope you give the game a try tho, as it DOES include Single Player custom battles too!

Also, can I ask a mod, is there a way to get this topic stickied? Not only is the mod finished, but it includes a few different eras, so I would think it would be "worthy," no?:)
