Keep it up, you have clearly gotten the feel right.

Btw, are the naginatas set? I mean they are too long for what I have read of them. The 'Windmill' combatfeat is impossible with such a long weapon.

Wow.. splendid!
I'm definitely getting this modification. Is that the general with the blue outfit ?

Kraxis
11-03-2005, 01:56
OH... MY... GOD!!!!

They look so beautiful! From the relaxed (almost contemptious) eyes to the countingbeads and armur sticking out. Even the Naginata is well done, several bands of colour, nice... Haven't seen it before but I like it.
And I see the length of the naginata is cut down a bit, so that it is more manageable. I'm very pleased.

If I have to say something about them it must be their handling of the weapon, they hold it in an impossible way. But if it can't be changed then it is certainly a price I'm willing to pay.
Also, shouldn't they carry katanas and not tachis? And Wakis of course. They are after all wellsupplied troops.

I have asked before, but the nag blade, I take it that it is impossible to make more swordlike or broader? It looks quite European right now.

The only super major problem is the naginata because the blade is wrong.

I'm still a bit puzzled by them carrying tachis instead of katanas.
But those Yumi Sohei [Yamabushi] look great, though I see no arrows (have they just released them or what?).

I must say they do look great... And reloading... great work.

But their arm armour is a bit too... well much. Perhaps and upperarm protector, but these guys were not suppoed to get close up with the enemy, so the best ashi equipment went to them last (unless they are some sort of teppo elite of course).

Nice little vid there... I noticed that you have brought the old STW music back in.~;)

Nobori = Bo-men (staff fighters)?

Was the Bo really used in battles in large numbers or even at all? I haev never heard them mentioned in any other capacity than some master preferring his Bo over his Yari and so on. A few individuals.

Or are we talking about the bannerbearers?

Kagemusha
11-10-2005, 08:36
Kraxis, yes those are banner bearers. The Nobori was the larger version of the sashimono flag that the troops carried in their back.~:)

Alexander the Pretty Good
11-10-2005, 15:38
Is each nobori a single unit?

That wouldn't be good - I would never build them if they took up a whole unit slot on their own...

Excellent work guys, Im so glad to see this mod going strong. Prometheus, awesome work on the models and the textures, I didnt even know if you had carried on the work when I checked in yesterday for the first time since I left the team, and sincerely, Im positively surprised by what you and the team has achieved without my assistance.~;)

Even if I will never get the pleasure of playing this, what seems to becoming an awesome mod, I will still borrow computers to check by from time to time, this is a development I dont want to miss out on, the screenies alone makes it all worth it.~D

Keep up the great work and the best of luck to you all.

Kraxis
11-20-2005, 20:31
Very nice... But I have come to expect that.~;)

Could one ask to get a more closeup or frontal shot of them? Most of the interesting details are visible at the 10.30 to 11 o'clock of the individual man.

The only comment I can add to this most solid uit is the yari itself.

Personally I would like the crossed points, not just because it was used a lot but because it makes sense for anticavalrymen to have it. They were excellent for pulling men out of the saddle if the point couldn't penetrate the armour, and that was a most popular use. The shorter the yari more effective the crossed points would be.

Besides this I wonder about the length, most yaris I have seen have the point beginning about wherethe point ends now. It would just look more spectacular this way.

I want to stress again that I feel too few crossbars are present (so far only Te-Yari Samurai). I think it is fair that all Samurai and elite Yari Ashis (Hirazamurai and similar) should have them. Tangling enemies was something the Japanese were very impressed with, but it was of course not that easy and it required the weapon to be wielded in a free fashion, making it an impossible task for the longer yari in the hands of lightly trained ashis.

It depends mostly what animation we are going to use for certain units. So it remains to be seen.~;)
