Good Races
-----------------------
The fair Elves
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/elves.gif
The Elves have since the dawn of time fought off the forces
of evil and are prepared to do so again. The Elves have the best
archers in known and they are also feared for their courage in battle
and great wizards. They prefer to fight in the woods and they can rely
on the various creatures that dwell there to aid them.
The elves are race of great strength, valour and power
but their numbers have steadily decreased the last ages since many of
them have returned to the sea.
Race advantages :
-No fatigue (except for the cavelry units-1/2 fatigue).
-Extremely high morale
-Best archers with extraordinary range, rof. and precisision.
-Very loyal population
-Additional bonus in the forests.
-Strong magic using troops
Race downsides :
-Very expensive
-lightly armoured
-Very long training times
-----------------------
The tough Dwarves
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/dwarves.gif
The Dwarves have been toughened throughout their years of mining in the
mountains.Their love for gold and other metals is great, and they love to
make armour and weapons of it.The dwarves, though short of stature are
great in might of weapons. They also love to build machines and have some of
the best siegeweapons in the world.
Race advantages :
-Best armour&weapon upgrades available
-Quadruple income from mines
-strong troops with high defensive stats
-Best siege weapons in the world
Race downsides
-Slow troops
-Weak ranged troops
-----------------------
The valiant humans
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/humans.gif
The humans ,having mastered the skills of waging a war on horseback while
duelling in some petty wars between kings and lords ,have now united under
the banner of the Prince of Starvale to face the thread of Orks.
The Knights of Thirosvalley are among the best warriors ever and every knight
in the service of the Prince of Starvale trains to eventually become one himself.
All other human troops are of reasonable skill.
Race advantages :
-Best cavelry in the game
-Good balanced troops
Race downsides :
-Morale has room for improvement.
-----------------------
Evil Races :
-----------------------
The foul Orks
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/orks.gif
The precise origin of the Orks is unknown but there are a lot of different
speculations about it.They are pure evil and envy all other races for their
wealth, beauty, size or anything else they can come up with. They are driven
by a collective thought of destruction and will attack anyone who does not
share their views. The peasants think they're lesser deamons working for no one
but their own though wiser men and Wizards have concluded (correctly) that
there's a powerfull Mage controlling these creatures. His name ,appearance and lair
have yet to be discovered. The Orks come in many different forms and sizes and
they have a wide variety of troops. These foul creatures care most about their own
lives and after that ,destroying the lives of others. Thus Orks are known to run away
at the first sight of a stronger enemy, but they most of the time outnumber them.
Race advantages :
-Incredibly cheap troops available
-Wide variety of troops
-Mass production available
Race downsides :
-Terrible Morale
-Mostly weak troops
-Poor weapon&armour upgrades
-----------------------
The rotting Undead
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/undead.gif
Whith the arrival of Blaederoth, there also came his servants of the dead.Everywhere he
walked and chanted his foul curses, graves were disturbed and the recently buried came to
the service to aid their master in his dark purpose. The undead legions consist of a variety
of corpses.Skeletons of humans,Dwarves and even Orks walked once more. Now nothing but rotting
flesh on some bones, held together,-and moved, by the strong magics of Bloderoth. They seek nothing
but to please their master by killing every living creature they encounter, to feest upon
it's blood and add a brother in their ranks. The undead never grow tired but aren't very tough...
but then again why would they need to be if you can just summon warriors from every corspe...
Race advantages :
-Undead troops Don't suffer from fatigue
-25% of the killed enemies join the ranks of you troops.
-no morale
-cheap troops
Race downsides :
-Slow troops
-Almost only Weak units
-----------------------
The war-minded Minotaurs & centaurs
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/minos.gif
The Minotaurs joined ranks with the centaurs when they wanted to take the elvish forest of
Faeywood to claim there own.Even though they were beaten then they haven't given up and have only
one thing on their minds...war! The mino's are half-man half-Bull, which gives them the ability to
think like a human but the strength of a bull, the centaurs are half-man, half-horse, they have ,again,
the mind of a human, but the speed of a horse.
Race advantages :
-Very powerfull troops
-Very fast troops
-nice balanced units
Race downsides :
-No siege machines
-rather expensive units
------------------------
These are the units I've come up with so far, new ones will be edited in once they've been thought of and others will be altered if anyone from the modding team (counting 6 heads already http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif) disagrees.
------------------------
Good races : Units :
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/elves.gif
Elvish units :
General information :
Most Elves prefer to go to battle without armour, though this makes them fast and
agile, it also means they aren't very well protected from attacks. They suffer no fatigue,
and they fear nothing. Most troops however take a long time to train since Elves like to
do other things along their training for battle (write poems, sing songs and drink wine
to name a few things).Their training is also expensive since the Dwarves from which they
buy their equipment from often care more for the Elves' gold then having a powerfull ally
in battle.Since the Elves live in the forest, they also excel in doing battle there.
Elvish Spearman - This is the most basic of the Elvish troops.
He's armoured with a long spear, making him most effective vs. cavelry.
They like all elves know no fear, nor fatigue but they aren't very strong
and will lose to most other basic infantry.
training time : 1
Elvish Swordsman - These are the Elves which more often visit foreign
kingdoms and therefore need more skill in battle to survive. They are expert
swordsmen and can deal with most of their counterparts. They are best used versus
other infantry and they should be kept away from enemy cavelry and arrows.
Elvish Archer - Elvish Archers are the spearmen who'd rather keep their
clothes clean and decided to pick up their hunting bows. They have a great aim,but
they lack real training in melee combat.
Elvish Mounted Scout - The Elves may have great eyesight, this still doesn't allow
them to see over hills or through forests. This is where the mounted scouts come in.
They are lightly armoured and armed with swords for emergencies. They are the fastest
units the Elves have at their disposal and they are often used to scout, or to hunt down
routing Orks. They are however just good for that and should avoid all enemy cavelry units
and spearmen. As all Elvish steeds, the mounted scouts only suffer half the fatigue
of normal steeds.
Elvish Ranger - Elvish Rangers are by far the best archers on this plain.
They have longbows which enables them to shoot over long distances and their
aim is legendary throughout all the mortal lands. Once their arrows run out they are
still formidable swordsman. To reach this level of skill they have to train a long time.
Elvish Heavy Cavelry - These Elves prefer to go to war on their trusted steeds.
They wear some armour, usually gifts from mortals or bought from Dwarves. This results in
Their steeds being slower then possible and suffering normal fatigue. They are armed with
swords and have small shields for protection.
Tree-ents - If the war is going ill for the Elves,or if they need a decisive force,
they may summon the ancient spirits of the forest. These spirits appear in the form of tree like men.
They are the absolute symbol of power and they are feared by all foes. They have many names but the
most common is Tree-ent.They can take great steps and have a very thick skin of bark, they tire only
after many leagues and fear very little.
-------------------------------
http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/dwarves.gif
Dwarvish Units :
General information :
The Dwarves love to mine the mountains for gold, metals and especially Mithril, the strongest metal known.
From it they forge the best weapons and armour which they bring along for battle. This makes their troops
the most heavily armoured and their bodies posses a lot of strength, not just for their size. They love to build
machines and they excel at building siege engines. One good thing, for the enemies of the dwarves that is,is that
the short, stumpy legs of the dwarves don't give them any speed. Tell this to a dwarf however and you'll have an
axe in your head before you know it.
Dwarf Miner - These are the dwarves from the mines who have volunteered for the army ,"to see the world".
They are not used to battle and their morale is a matter of who is winning at the moment. They have light armour since they have no time to forge their own. They are armed with pickaxes they brought from the mines.
Dwarfish armyman - These are the dwarves just coming into adulthood (around 50) and they want to become hero's as Thurion Ironblade. Their morale is good all seeking fame and many heads to cleave with their axes. They have medium armour since they haven't got the money to buy a good one or experience to forge one.
Dwarf Crossbowmen - The Dwarvish inventors saw the succes of the bows of the humans, they decided it could do with a little improvement, and just like anyone could expect from a dwarf they came up with a completely new design, whether it was an improvement or not. The crossbows have a fair range and can be fired with reasonable accuracy. The main drawback is that it takes quite a while to reload. It doesn't matter if the dwarves wouldn't be as stubborn as they are to only want to use one of their own inventions, they're just too small to use a normal bow effectively.
Dwarf Senior - The Seniors are the Dwarves who have had at least 100 goblin kills,or killed a dragon without
being eaten as a crispy delicasy in the proces. They are the hardcore troops of the dwarves and have excellent armour
and weaponry. They suffer from the same disease as most other dwarvish troops ; lack of speed. They have seen to many
dangers to be scared easily and most Dwarf Kings trust on these units to win the battle for them.
Dwarvish Ponyriders - Even the Dwarves have cavelry, because a horse to a dwarf is like an elephant to a man, they had
to find other means of transport. For it they choose the pony because they resembled a horse and they thought they'd look
better on it than on a swine.Ponies smell better too. These units are lightly armoured and armed but they have one thing
the other units don't...speed. They can almost keep up with other cavelry units and provide a nice punch.
Dwarf Lord - These little fellows, live for battle. They are the absolute elite and have the best equipment gold can buy. They are heavily armoured and armed. They prefer to fight on their own so that they don't hurt any allies when they swing their huge axes around.
Catapults - The catapults of the dwarves are the best ever made. They have the biggest range and do incredible amounts of damage. You'd be suprised what damage small creatures like dwarves can do when they get their hands on one of these.
Trebuchets - When had invented the catapults, and the humans had taken over their design, the dwarves wanted something to call their own, something bigger ,better, more powerfull, and more destructive so they came up with the design of the trebuchet. Many dwarves died when they fell off the huge machine but that couldn't stop them from building them. They have more range and power than the Catapults but they also take longer to build.

http://members.home.nl/jvanbaars/mod/humans.gif
Human Units :
General information :
The humans have had a lot of experience in dealing with the dark races, in
various wars mainly with the Orks for killing their cattle and eating their
wives, but also since a short while with the undead. The humans love to fight
undead (can't blame them, who wouldn't love to beat their late mother-in-law
back into the ground?).They prefer to fight on horseback and the human paladins
are legendary throughout all of the kingdoms. They have a good balance of units
ranging from cheap infantry&halfling archers to siege engines and heavy cavelry.
Militia - These are the townsfolk called to war.
They'd rather plough their lands than stick their pitchforks in a goblin...
There morale is poor, they lack the ambition to become hero's and mostly wet
themselves at the mere thought of battle. They aren't very well equipped but
they make up by this by just being available in numbers and not eating much.
Halfling archers - These marry little fellows were rudely disturbed
during a picknick of the entire village by some Orks, who took their major,
Mido Hazebark, but even worse their own baked cookies! The Halflings swore
revenge but were to scared to go to battle alone. The humans saw their uses
(mainly for battlefield cooks) and enlisted them in their ranks. The Halflings
being weak and having very little armour (they couldn't carry it if they had it)
decided it would be best to take their hunting bows to kill some Orks. They lack '
the strength to encounter enemies in melee, and it's rumoured they even get beaten
by mere Goblins.Their range is very limited because of the short bows and little
power by which they are fired. They are however excellent cooks, maybe one of the
reasons Giants love to "have them for dinner".
Halberdiers - "Men with sticks" as they are called by the Orks are the backbone
of the human troops. They have sticks...very pointy sticks with a nice metal balde on the
end. They are the absolute terror of any cavelry and they even fare well vs. other infantry.
Because they are rather heavily armoured they cant move as quick as other infantry.
Swordsmen - The humans who'd rather see the white of the enemies eyes
(if they still have any in case of the undead) in stead of just poking them from a few yards
took up swordtraining. They are good warriors, best used versus other infantry.
Squires - When the Humans go fight serious battles, they tend to just let the
Halflings cook and leave the archery business to the squires. They are bigger, stronger, faster
and therefore better than halflings. They are still not good in melee but at least they can
beat goblins. They also have more range and can carry more arrows then the "Garden gomes" as
the halflings are mockingly called by some humans (mostly those envious of their cooking).
Lanceer cavelry men - These are the human warriors who provide the mobility of the human
armies. They are lightly armoured as not to overburden their trusted steeds. Because of their
long lance, they are great versus other cavelry. They should however be kept away from
ranged fire and most infantry units. They are best used to scout, hunt down routing troops
and take care of other cavelry, although they'll still lose versus heavy cavelry because of their
poor armour.
Mounted Paladins - Being the absolut elite of the human armies, these fierce men
fear very little and most often choose death before failing their liege. They have chosen
the most powerful horses to ride, and they need it for they wear heavy armour, often created
by the best of dwarven smiths. When they charge and the ground trembles beneath them no
enemy can hold their ground for long. Not even spears are a sure way to beat them, though
they're still your best bet when encountering them.
Catapult - Once the humans had seen the many uses of the Dwarvish catapult, they decided
to "borrow" one of them and reproduce them. They are the only siege engines available to the
humans.

They are the only siege engines available to the
humans.
