The Age of Vikings and Fanatics mod is seriously looking for new members.

If you think you can help in any way, please apply by sending me a PM or answering here :

We're not looking for someone with specific skills, but rather for a few active people really willing to spend some of their time for the mod.
Skilled modelers and skinners are obviously welcome, but we could also use the help of :

a map mapper
a scripter
a traiter/ancilliaries editor
someone willing to edit new units' stats
someone who speak english perfectly, willing to write factions, units, buildings, traits, etc. descriptions

Here are glimpse of what we're aiming for :

@Ranika: We'd be very thankful for that. Actually we'll quite soon get to a phase where writing the galiec unit descriptions will be made. If it's ok I can contact you by PM when it's about time. We'd like the descriptions to in most cases follow the pattern of starting with a short summary on it's usage, strengths and weaknesses and armament, followed by info about the recruit method, then last in the description there's some room for various aneqdotes, notes on appearance archaeology etc. if it can be found. I think it's enough if the long unit description version is about twice the length of this paragraph.

@tutankamon: Thanks for the offer, but we've actually already made the norse unit descriptions. As for buildings, we're often using generic buildings, but it's possible we'll use unique description per culture, so we'd be thankful for your help with that when we come to that part. Our tech trees might need some changes so it's too early at the moment for us to tell which building descriptions that will be needed.

Something we need badly is someone willing to edit units' stats. That's not really a difficult task, but testing might take a lot of time, and it's quite tedious, since we're now having a decent number of units ready.

Okay, just let me know if there is anything I can help with

I don't speak English perfectly, because I am not a native. I do, however, write it on a fairly high level and am quite attentive to detail so I could write or proofread descriptions if you wanted.
Ranika, being both an etymologist and a native of an Eglish-speaking country, would be much better, and maybe there are others as well, but feel free to consider me if you need more. I know the difference between a sable and a sabre, for instance.

You wouldn't want to edit unit stats, would you ? ~D

I have no idea what that would entail.

It would mean test running how the units behave in combat, then editing the stats for attack, armor, charge etc. in the descr_units.txt file. It takes a lot of time, and we'll probably try to get hold of a team of beta testers to do the fine tuning of the stats, but for the first rough version it would be great with another team member. I could teach you how to do it if you're interested.

I worked with that sort of thing on another game, and it turned out I was very ill suited for it. I just cannot imagine the effect that changing a value will have on gameplay in my head, so all the work I did there had to be changed later. My real job was to create items and creatures, not to make them work well, but the fact remains that I found 'game balancing', as it were, to be my weakness.
