Hall of Fame Modding Awards (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57775) - Nominations now open

From the HOF thread:
____________________
This is your chance to recognize outstanding members of the Total War community for their contributions and participation over the last two years (2004/2005).

This year we have awards for 35 categories. There are awards for MP online play, modifications, and contributions to the Org. There are separate awards for some categories for RTW, MTW, and STW.
____________________

Do have a look through the rules for nominations:

Please do not nominate yourself or your clan.

You may nominate more than once in any category.

When nominating please say why - eg, for modders post a link to their mods.

Each person/clan/mod only needs to be nominated once per category.

Only nominate in those categories that you are familiar with.

Nominate only those who qualify in a category (in other words please don't nominate a person who hasn't played Shogun for three years for an STW award, or a person who have never written a story in the Mead Hall as Best Author)

Use the nominations threads only to make nominations, NO OTHER DISCUSSION in the nominations threads. There will be separate threads to discuss the awards.

The Awards Team (Gregoshi, ichi, Mithrandir, Monk, Myrddraal, and Tosa) reserve the right to filter nominations. All decision of the team are final.

I would like to emphasise the importance of giving reasons _why_ you're making a nomination. So much has happened in the last two years that isn't known by newer members - or have been forgotten by the veterans. Saying why you're making a nomination and - even better - posting links to their work means that when voting comes around everyone will be in a better position to judge who the winner should be.

Also remember, nomination threads are not voting threads. An individual or mod only needs to be nominated once. Having lots of nominations for the same mod just confuses other people who think they're voting.

There are seven awards relating to RTW modding:

Best RTW Total Conversion Mod (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57810)
Best RTW Mini Mod (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57811)
This is both for RTW and for BI. Note that these categories are only for released mods (whether it be a full version, a beta or a demo). The voters can only properly judge on what has been released. These awards are for the best RTW mods, after all, not the mods with the best promotion. Mods in development have their own category.

Most Promising Mod (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57817)
This is for both RTW and MTW. Nominees can include any mod that's been announced and is still in development. Mods which have died, alas, are not very promising!

Outstanding RTW Modder (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57813)
This is an individual award. Do remember to post links to your nominee's work.

Best Modding Guide Writer (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57814)
For both RTW & MTW. This is an individual award and can awarded for one individual's contribution of many guides or just one exceptional one. Remember to post links.

Best Modding Tool Creator (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57815)
For both RTW & MTW. This is an individual award and can awarded for one individual's contribution of many modding tools or just one exceptional one. Remember to post links.

Nominations close after Saturday 18th December.

Please note: This is just an information thread. You must follow the links to the actual nominations thread otherwise they will never be counted :san_cry:

I think Adherbal should win as one of the best modders...

Best RTW Total Conversion Mod: RTR without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the best mods ever created, and one of the reasons i stopped using a hacked copy of RTW and went out and paid for it.

Best RTW Mini Mod: KScott's Pax Britannia - a brilliant mod with the emphasis on making the Romano-British harder to play, and the first real BI mod afaik, Proffesorspatula's BI extra hordes and factions v1.3 because its brilliant (adds horde to several other factions and makes eveyone playable) and Lusted's Late Romans Version 2, because i love the skins he made. (and mine!! ~:joker: )

Most Promising Mod: Shogo's The Cross and the Crescant mod, a Crusader based Custom Battle mod that wipes the floor with all the other crusader mods, imho. The skins are great, the models are great, and he is a pretty cool guy.

Outstanding RTW Modder: [cf]Adherbal - he has done a lot of work on RTW, alternativly Myddraal for his amazing scripts and work on Wheel of Time.

Best Modding Guide Writer: Mr. Epistolary Richard, the how to add new units guide really got me into modding in a big way.

Best Modding Tool Creator: EDIT: hehe, oops.....sorry Vercingetorix! yeah, his stuff is brilliant, and it has helped all modders.

Tricky to nominate for some of these categories, so I will only nominate for the ones I feel I CAN !

Tools: Forget TIME, Caligula, these did jobs tht could be done by hand, and just made them easier. There can only be ONE winner here. Vercingetorix. Without his work, there would be NO NEW MODELS and NO NEW ANIMATIONS. How many of the mods in progress now would be possible without his tools.

As far as mods go, to be honest...I don't actually play any of them at the moment. So I can't vote here.

Also, when we go to 'most promising mod' you have to look at people who are trying to do more than just put new models and skins into a game. I enjoy the more 'technical' side of the game, and would have to vote for Blue Lotus in this category. Hoggy is not constrained or guided by a definite plan, and that means creativity!

Best modder is entirely subjective. What is 'best'. Best modeller? Best map-maker... how do you judge?I can model better than some...and skin better than others...but which skills do I 'value' most? When it comes to helpful answers to modding questions, there are a few regulars, but I couldn't choose.

When it comes to modding guides, ER gets my vote too. He does more than anyone else to get the knowledge of the community down on file, and to keep things visible that new guys need to know.

Errr.... you guys do know that this isn't a nomination thread right? :beam:

Follow the links for the awards and post your nominations in the relevant thread otherwise they'll never be counted

Sorry, but I've got no further guidance on this score. It may well become clear from the nominations which skills are most valued and whether a single great specialism or an all-round high standards of ability are more regarded. This may well be an effective category when a modder's work would otherwise miss out on Best RTW mod because he simply cannot match the effort of a full team or he has produced a series of excellent, smaller mods.
