Download/Installation
Preferences are overwritten. Status: Should be fixed in a future version.

Map/Starting a Game
Lake Avernus in Kallatis is incorrect. There should be no unique building in this province (Mikra Skythia). Status: Approved by khelvan, awaiting implementation.
There are snow-covered trees in the Sahara. Status: Sprite issue involving certain nVidia cards. Should be fixed eventually, low-priority.

The market in Sulek (Yuezhi Yabgu) shouldn't be there, as markets for Yuezhi will only buildable in provinces with nomad settlements (and it's got a nomadic resource there so a settlement there isn't possible). Add a good caravan to the province instead (which is how they will get their trade in nomadic provinces). Status: Approved by khelvan, awaiting implementation.

Status: Approved by Teleklos, awating implementation.
Leuce Epos are described as general's bodyguard, yet the Eleutheroi in the British isles have several of them in their cities without a general. Status: Awaiting confirmation and assessment.
If possible we need to get some of the Indian longbowmen and hoplites into the Indian cities to start the game in place of a few of their other units. There may be some problem keeping this from happening, but I know they are available in a Baktrian skin and in a merc one (though this is an eastern culture controlled set of provinces to start the game). I have a bug for you to add to your list -

In my Roman campaign i just fought a rebel army with a small leaderless army of my own, when i won i got a man of the hour and accepted the proposal to which i got a general to lead my small rebel bashing army with. Problem is, the year is only 267BC and his cavalry bodyguard are Equittes Singulares, imperial age cavalry... Yet i haven't even reached the first reform where i can recruit the Polybian infantry...

When I was playing as the casse about 10 years in a message apeared telling me that the gods seemed to have abandoned us and the ptolemaics were about to acheieve their victory conditions and win the game. I didnt know AI factions could win the game, and the ptolemaics werent even doing that well. Certainly the had most of phonecia but they hadnt really attacked the seleucids or the carthaginians. Anyway, I played for another 20 years and nothing came of it.

That message has popped up before. It's very weird and terrifies you into thinking the game is about to end, but it never does. :fainting:

Great initiave! I started a Casse campaign today and noticed the following errors:

General
-
Some people are experiencing "Generic Error: DATABASE_TABLE error found : unrecognized record id egyptian general's bodyguard requested" (also id roman archer). Possibly bad install?
I got identical messages the first three times after I exited the game, first about id roman archer, then twice id roman medium cavalry. I installed it using Bittorrent.
-Factions still have the old tooltip description in faction selection and custom battle menus.
-Faction description of Casse seems to miss part of sentence in the description of the Casse political system.

Units
-Clyddabre are said to "carry shortswords as a form of self-defence".
-Leuce Epos are described as general's bodyguard, yet the Eleutheroi in the British isles have several of them in their cities without a general.
-Rycalware are classified as spearmen.
-Several Casse units have a different colour far-off then close-by. Most of the rest looks like the rebel warband from vanilla R:TW from a distance. This is most notable with the Neissos: they are light blue from a distance, but go to drab grey-brown close-up.
-Idle Kluddargos appear to be cutting their own shoulder with their two-handed sword.

Buildings
-Bannodan appears as Roman barracks both in the city as in the description window. Tavern, Touabren, Aoun, Atorin and Adros Llew all show Roman barracks in description window.
-Stonehenge description contains typo: romanitems instead of Roman items. Incidentally, I distinctly recall visiting a larger stone circle in England, so that part of the description may need to be adjusted too.
-Grain silo actually decreases trade.

Campaign map
-When pressing the questionmark in the faction menu the advisor describes the Casse victory conditions, but uses underscores in the names of several towns.
-Casse have a blacksmith in Camulosadae but their units don't carry upgrades. Intentional?
-When watching the A.I. factions move the old rebel shield still appears at the top and not the new Eleutheroi one. Also, the Parthians are called Phalav and not Phalava.
-There is a land bridge between Scotland and Ireland. Also, you can bypass the western alps by travelling along the coast. Intentional?
-Romans are at war with Averni and Yuetze, but not Aedui. I suppose a mix-up occured.

A new bug, discovered by my girlfriend.

Playing as Casse on her first turn she noticed that she has a spy in Ireland. Upon sending this spy in to the town located there(Goidilic) her spy was killed(nothing unusual there). The animation on the dying Spy is bugged, it stutters and starts and drags out slightly. This was not a one off and has been duplicated.

But this could be responsible for some problems I suppose. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for your help. Everything has been noted as appropriate. Thanks especially to Ludens for his many specific reports.

There is a land bridge between Scotland and Ireland. This is intentional. The distance is considered short enough that an army could make impromptu ferries and get across safely without having to build a proper fleet.

The original faction leaders for Casse and Sweboz are dead at the start of the game, and they too have the same dual death notice. Furthermore, as the game progresses, EVERY deceased family member has the "died of plague" comment instead of "born on".

In a related matter, 2 of my Casse family members died in combat, yet their Family Tree death notice's read "Assassinated ***BC".

I don't know if this counts under the already posted building description problems, but:
- for pretty much all roman military buildings, it seems, the description consists of two texts superimposed on top of each other, which is difficult to read.
- yuezhi are at war with the romans at the start of the campaign and comes with a ceasefire after a few turns. Seems odd that they'd be at war from start, as they're quite far away from each others on the map...
- I saw no pre-campaign cut-scene as the Romani.

Mathieu, those only appear on computers which have a nvidie geforce card (older ones). THose cards will not read the campaign map 3d vegetation and CA has said therer is no way to fix it. most people who have the problem don't even know it and have never seen the beautiful 3d vegetation on the campaign map.

We can fix it by making sure the sprites match up with our new 3D vegetation - there's a thread on the EBH about it somewhere that should be easy to find. It's nothing that you can fix on the map itself though.

(This is bound to make me unpopular, but...)

The market that we start the game off with in Sulek (in Yuezhi Yabgu) shouldn't be there, as markets for Yuezhi will only buildable in provinces with nomad settlements (and it's got a nomadic resource there so a settlement there isn't possible), but we need to add a good caravan to the province instead (which is how they will get their trade in nomadic provinces).

-Kallatis will need stone walls. They can keep their Getai general, but they need a mix of Greek and Getai rebel units in the city to start the game in 272.

-Kyrene can keep their "Ptolemaic" general for the time being (maybe we can get Magas switched over somehow), but they need 3/4 of the troops to be greek ones (they can have a few local recruits, but they will never have greek ones at all in the mix under the current setup).

-If possible we need to get some of the Indian longbowmen and hoplites into the Indian cities to start the game in place of a few of their other units. There may be some problem keeping this from happening, but I know they are available in a Baktrian skin and in a merc one (though this is an eastern culture controlled set of provinces to start the game).

-Since the walls on the map are appearing as roman stone ones (they aren't when you get to the city), let's drop them down to the second level wooden ones. There is no incongruity there in what you see and what you get.

Middle-Aged trait gives a bonus to movement instead of a penalty.

Young agents (diplomats, spies, and assassins) get a boost to movement of 10-20%; once they become middle aged, this bonus is lessened to 5%. Hence, they're not as fast as they used to be, but still are able to move further than they could in vanilla. Not a bug, it's a feature! ~;)

If it's happening with generals, that's another matter. Middle-aged generals should get a 5% penalty to movement.

1) I would expect Numidian Javelineers to appear in Numidia, not Nabatea.
2) The general was a rebel family member, yet his units consisted also of javelineers.
3) On the campaign map, the Nabatean rebel family member appeared as Celtic family member on the campaign map (I am refering to how his army looks, not his portrait). A group of brigands north of Antioch appeared as Celtic army without a family member in command.

- when loading campaign map after battle with Karthadastim, game CTDs
- when the background script is turned off, the battle can be run without CTD
- both times, I was besieging a karthadastim city
- the crashes were repeated when I tried playing the battle again repeatedly, but the crashes disappeared as soon as I reloaded but didn't turn on the background script.

Now I got the same message again even when the background script was off. The general had the trait vanquisher of carthage, and the battle was with bad odds for me but won, so it might be an error with his trait when he gains more victories in his quest to collect a triumphus from the senate. When I tried assaulting the city instead of fighting the anti-sally+relief battle there was no crash after returning to campaign map after the battle.

A few small things:

- On the subject of diplomats, all agents seem to be using their vanilla faction colours. In most cases this isn't a problem since the colours haven't changed that much, but there are some exceptions (notably Arverni, Armenia and Baktria) It's a superficial issue though, especially since the correct faction colour displays around the agents name when highlighted.

- In my Aedui campaign I have spent the last few years in a prolonged war against the Sweboz. In several captured Sweboz cities a building called "should not be visible (https://img494.imageshack.us/img494/2750/snbv1fr.jpg)" appears in the building list. Just to make sure I started a campaign as the Sweboz, it didn't show up.

- I've noticed a few very small typos in descriptions, although I didn't make a note of them, they're tiny though. There are some places where typos appear more regularly though, such as the short descriptions for units (that appear in unit construction/selection boxes, and in messages at the beginning of a turn) I made a not of a couple for the Sweboz, particularly the Hrussáthêwáz unit, which has a few noticable ones (unuasual, aniquilate, eficient)

Hmm, no, they shouldn't be, he should be middle-aged. The problem here is that when a spy, diplomat, or assassin is created (this goes for adopted and married sons, too), we can't tell how old he is. Usually a new character is in his 20's, so they start out as "young". This guy may have been recently created. If so, just think of him as a very healthy guy! ~;).

If he's been around for 20 years and he's still young, then we have a problem.

I played a custom battle of Macedonian Hypaspistai versus Casse Rycalware and both of them held swords instead of spears when marching or idle. However, when they charged they did have spears. During combat, both units has some soldiers swinging swords and some thrusting spears. The odd thing was that the men seemed to use spears for close-combat and swords when further removed from the enemy.

I'm getting fed up with Carthagian generals ripping though my phalanx without taking a loss. These things are unstobblable, without a general unit to counter them you're pretty much well dead.

I had a bogged down a general unit with 2 units of Princeps surrounding them (this is after they passed harmlessly through my triari wall of spears). The entire time it said "victory almost certain, only a fool could lose this battle" on their 'combat meter'. I took down a few, but they are just too strong. The only way you can kill them is with using your general unit. ANd they take heavy losses in the process. I lost my conquering Africanus to those bastards! He was my pride and joy :(

They're like terminators. They kill with out feeling pain. I'm almost tempted to lure them in to a lava pit, I fear it maybe the only way to kill them!

Caledonian Rhyfelwyr and Doryphoroi Pontikoi appear double in the custom battle unit lists of the factions they are available too.
The Sweboz have a unit with the odd name Germanic_ infantry_feralharjoz and without description.
Sweboz Merjoz and Godelic Hammerinfantry still feature the vanilla standardbearers.
Sorry for being not very thorough, but I am playing the game on and off right now, so my observations are rather randomly made.
I believe that they could make a shieldwall or something if they had defence on? then if you attack they would draw spears and later switch back to swords or something like that. I can't remember correctly.

I did not switch on or off guard-mode, if that is what you mean (or aren't you responding to my last post?). I merely ordered my Hypaspistai to charge the Rycalware. Both Rycalware and Hypaspistai had swords except when charging or when apparently fighting in close-combat (that is, in the fight the rear ranks did hold swords, but the fighting soldiers not). This last observation may be wrong, however, as it only struck me when reviewing the screenshots of the battle. I will test it straight away.

Just a minor thing I don't think I saw in your list: when zoomed out on the campaign map, the Spanish banner over cities reverts to the vanilla RTW banner rather than remaining as the new EB one.

I was wrong. The soldiers used swords as well as spears in close combat. However, after some time fighting most of the fighting soldiers would switch to spears, especially when guard mode was on (it was off by default for the Hypaspistai). This was benificial, as it allowed the second rank to fight as well. The rear ranks (those not participating in the fight) would hold swords.

bug or beta, that is the question ?

in my Swebos campain when I sieged the habukoz and heruskos my general´s unit couldn´t drop the ram (there was no icon button for it)
he only dropped it when he was attacked in the process of defending himself

there are no buttons for changing formations
there is only warcry for special unit ability

maybe some cosmetic correction to the borders should be done : e.g. between Skanzaz and Kimbroz... the border goes around the edge of the island

Not sure if this is supposed to be a bug or a feature, but ...

The Seleukid starting province of Astauene (that is, the sttlement Asaak, in the NNE of the faction's territory) starts off with two basic farm buildings (those that give +1 to food output).

Just thought I'd point in case it's not a planned feature.

Stonehenge description contains typo: romanitems instead of Roman items. Incidentally, I distinctly recall visiting a larger stone circle in England, so that part of the description may need to be adjusted too.
I suddenly recalled it again. The stone circle I visited was at Avebury and is the greatest in the world. However, whereas Stongehenge actually has been constructed to some extent, Avebury is just a number of stones put in a circle. Also, there isn't much left of it when compared to Stonehenge.

After several hours of playing ... I noticed that you seem to have mixed up the stratmap models for mount and lumber resources.

I have a camel model on the map that says (actually all of them say it, I checked) Timber - valuable trade resource, and a log model that says Mounts - allows the recruitment of horse and camel mounted units.

Don't know if this happened to anyone else, it could just be a defective install or something.

Playing as the Romans, they keep on calling themselves Hellenic.

examples:
- If you have the most armies, a message will come saying that 'Hellenic' armies are the strongest of the world
- If you lost a gate building in a siege, a message will come saying that it is an insult for 'Hellenic' courage
- If you kill an enemy general, it says you killed an enemy of the Hellenes
- If one of your cities is bribed, it says that the Gods are ashamed of such honourless Hellenes

etc. etc.

I guess it's a leftover from giving the Romans the Seleucid slot. There are also similar problems; like the Eastern Hellenic factions having Roman walls, and Rome having Greek walls etc.

Nothing game-breaking, though. Just thought I'd mention it.

They are mutually exclusive. This is something I've seen caused by making a change to a traits file and loading a saved game. Then you can get all sorts of weird results.

Another possibility is that the files from the installation aren't the files I turned in. If you check your Data\export_descr_character_traits.txt, and do a search for Pious and PublicAtheism, you should see this:

Trait Pious
Characters family
NoGoingBackLevel 4
AntiTraits Sacrilegious, PublicAtheism, Pragmatic

and this:

Trait PublicAtheism
Characters family
ExcludeCultures barbarian
NoGoingBackLevel 5
AntiTraits PublicFaith, ReligiousMania, Pious, Superstitious

The two traits are antitraits to each other, so you can't have both of them at once.

If your files don't have the above code, and you didn't change them, it could explain a lot of things...

A few issues here:
https://img482.imageshack.us/img482/8117/skinproblem4mp.th.jpg (https://img482.imageshack.us/my.php?image=skinproblem4mp.jpg)

First, even if this one is a placeholder, it's a bit weird. This is the Hayasdan general - but it says it's the "Pontic General". Now, the Pontic General looks like it might actually be the same model as this, but this unit has no armor at all and looks very weak. The horse is armored in front, but not the unit.

Then there is a problem that the Pontic General itself used to have but now it seems fixed - there is a gap in the helmet of this skin on this model. That also makes me think this is using the wrong skin.

Just hope it helps to point this stuff out here so Sim can organize it.

little problem. it's damn annoying and it happens every single time.

the setup:

i'm playing as the greeks. i've laid seige to the macedonian city of korinth. the macedonians have a much larger army, plus a few scattered 1-3 unit armies hanging around the city.

the problem:

after going to the next turn, i'm always attacked as they try to lift my seige. first i'm hit with a small army with the city garrison as reinforcements. i pretty much crush 'most' of their forces. when i end that first battle and return to the strat map, i'm immediately hit with another attack by what's left of the city garrison and another nearby small 1-3 unit army. it never fails with this, but every single time i defeat the macedonians this second time around in the same turn, and i hit the "end battle" button, i get a CTD. other than that, the only bug i've come across is the warp to 14 a.d. issue.

but this one really is starting to become annoying. it's as if the mod can't handle two assaults against me, back-to-back, in the same turn.

We're using the four humours traits to represent mood, and the description for Gloomy really doesn't match the reality. This could just be a temporary problem. Or maybe he's superficially friendly on the outside and crying inside?

Well, not all units have the warcry ability. Check the unit descriptions, as some units do not have special abilities.

Been playing as Carthage. As has been listed, the mercenary Scutarii have no unit card, but the recruitable Scutarii do.

Also, I have a five tier barracks built in Carthage, which is supposed to have the elephant resource. However I can not build any of the elephant units. I had conquered Sega and was able to recruit african forest Elephants, but no others, even as I upgraded the barracks there. So Elephants are almost not recruitable by Carthage.

Also with the recruitment problems (this may not be though), I cannot recruit Sacred Band infantry with my five tier barracks in Carthage. Not sure if there is an additional trigger.

I have all my settings on High or Highest and I also have the model problem with the Sacred Band Cavalry and General units (just heard that this only occurs on medium settings, so I am confirming it happens on highest settings as well). Also, no unit description card (right click in battle) for Sacred Band cavalry.

I have unit cards for all my recruitable ships in Carthage (read otherwise). However no unit card for "transport ships" which you begin with in Iberia (which also don't seem to be recruitable anywhere, don't know what that is about?).

And on a personal note, I have fought Numidian javelimen many times, and I believe them to be overpowered. The can stand up very well to my silver-chevron Iberian ? (scirmisher cavalry) and I have lost countless General's bodyguard soldiers to them. Very annoying, considering they have very similar stats to Iberian Velites, and I seem to wipe the floor with them with my cavalry, even in prolonged battle (took out an entire unit with no losses to my General unit).

The script that places government buildings for the AI doesn't check if it there is already a government of the appropiate type in place. This is what happened to Persepolis when it rebelled several times, only to be captured again each time by the Seleukids:

https://img382.imageshack.us/img382/6813/ebgovbug4on.th.jpg (https://img382.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ebgovbug4on.jpg)

It seems that the Seleukids got a duplicate building each time they took the city back.

Teleklos Archelaou
01-13-2006, 22:01
We can't destroy buildings ever ever ever ever. So the script has to put one in for the AI factions each time a new one conquers a province (as their bonuses are restricted to only that one faction). Don't worry about the remains of previous governments - just destroy them all when you finally take it over.

Jebus - the problem has now been noted. I don't think I can get a new change in for the next patch, but we will just remove it for the time being. It's supposed to be another unique building, but we switched the culture for the province and it flipped it into Dodone (it's the same building actually). Thanks for noting it.

Playing as Baktria, I laid siege to Kophen, intending to starve them out. With 2 turns to go, it was winter, and I clicked 'end turn'. Reinforcements arrived and attacked me, resulting in an open field battle. My general gave a great speech saying that his army was outnumbered, but of better quality and on the defensive, pointing out their lack of spearmen to confront my cavalry, how even though the omens were bad, the gods were with us, and his men were brave.

Outnumbered, surprised by enemy reinforcements in my rear area, and faced with a superior general, I still managed a heroic victory! The loading screen appeared, and next I would have expected to see the options of what to do with the town. Instead, I got a dreaded CTD. ~:(

Posting this now while it's still fresh in my memory. Can't even win the siege on autoresolve, much less this battle, so I'm going to have to play it out again and see if I can replicate it. Another possibility is playing out the siege battle and see what happens then.

I've had instances like this two. I'm actually having one right now - and it's breakig my game.
I have two full-stack roman armies besieging Nikomedia, and on the AI turn the Seleucids send three full-stack armies to attack me(EDIT: one after another). I've utterly destroyed all three of them, and then... I CTD right after the last post-battle load screen finishes loading.

This happened twice. I've shelved that campaign then.

Re-running my Baktria (see a couple of posts above for description) battle with Filemon running, these look like the crucial lines of output after the CTD:

Yeah, I don't understand either. Those files aren't located there in my vanilla data folder, either. This is not my area of expertise. I'm going to dig through the dump some more and see what I can find.

I have mountain4.tga.dds in vanilla and EB at that location, but not just a plain .tga.

I don't think it's battlefield textures, those are in the battlefield directory, I'd guess. Aerial_map seems to be full of the strat map stuff.

[edit]
Ok, I copied all the tga.dds files and put them in the places it's looking for them, but still get the same error messages and the CTD after the battle. Could it somehow be looking for tga's instead of dds files?

The Bab el Mandel is located in both Axum and Tanare (Arabian city)
The Oros Hosios is located in both Petra and Homma (Arabian city too)

I play with the KH and I have noticed the following:
1)Mercenary peltastai and Ippiko are identical to the ones produced in cities. Thus, I am not able to tell which unit can be repaired in a city and which not.
2)Ippiko has a small unit card but a photo on the large description page. Vice Versa for the Thessaliko Ippiko.
3)I do not know if you noticed but on the map KH and Getia colours are identical.
4)When selecting a faction to play the game the Eleutheroi are depicted in a different map.
5)Sometimes a Mercenary Phalangites unit when out of phalanx will move up and down (quite funny actually).
6)Thureophoroi have 1 Charge bonus while Peltastai 20 is this intentional?
7)The movement from Peloponnese to the mainland Greece is made on the sea.
That for now.

Teleklos Archelaou
01-19-2006, 20:15
Both sides of the Bab el Mandeb are represented - so that part sounds correct. Oros Hosios should just be in Petra - there must be an accidental variant in Homna. It should be the other side of the Hormuz straits, but I guess we changed that province's culture and it changed what the unique building was. Thanks for letting us know that one.

#7 - this has to happen to have a crossing that looks like it is on land but ships can cross it too (if you own korinth you can 'pull' ships across the diolkos)
#5 is a well known bug that's being fixed by animation guys
#3 Getai colors aren't quite the same as KH but they are close. We might try to change up one of them, but no one until now has mentioned that it's been a problem.

The other questions are unit ones that I can't answer.

I know that you guys have probably noted the strange aqua blue color that is used incorrectly for the Epeiros spys/diplomats. However, I found another occurence of this color while I was defending a stone-walled city.

The gate/wall part of the walls flies Thracian flags (hence the aqua-blue color) and banners. The city center/square has the correct Epeiros colors and symbols though.

Teleklos Archelaou
01-20-2006, 06:06
Those city walls and gates have flags that are built into the 3d battlemap building. They are quite difficult or not possible to change from what I've been told (they certainly don't use the regular flags or banners) - I guess we could have someone do it if we had someone at all who would work on our battlemap buildings - but we don't have a single person who will touch it. So those will just have to remain for the forseeable future. Sorry LE.

Ok lets start...
I have been playing with Koinon Hellenon and the game is playable until 239BC.
After this date it is CTD after CTD...
However, before I change faction I will post my findings.

1)Ephebeia Phrourike kai SheuothekE
Enables training of:
>>>Last 3 lines of text overimposed and out not justified.

2)Expansion Government Resource (Roman)
>>>While playing KH this appears when I move my curson over the building I can built for the Greek government.

3)Askesis Phrourike kai SheuothekAI (NOTE THE SPELLING WITH no.1)
Enables training of:
>>>Last 3 lines of text overimposed and out not justified.

4)Slingers make noise like archers

5)Snow in Pella region and Byzantion during summer.

6)Slingers: face split into two with a white line.

7)When units looked from afar they are grey with no detail. (Setting: Unit-High).

8)CTD 254BC (3 times)

9)CTD 248 (3 times) When a move of my olaceholders is done in between turns (when computer plays).

10)Name of mercenary Unit cards undistinguishable (for Peltastai and Ippeis). Thus unable to retrain in cities.

11)CTD 247 BC (2 times)

12)Tavern in Sidokia. No description, Icon, only TRANSLATE PLEASE.

13)Battle around Nikomedia on rectangular piece of flat land.

14)FFWD to 14AD

15)KH victory condition reward with Triarii

16)Old rebels Icon on turn icons.

17)After I captured Pella the Macedons sieged it. However, I had old Greek icons on the gate flags.

18) Temenos of Men in Nikomedia has TRANSLATE! on title while all seems ok.

19)When my diplomat speaks to Seleukids, they begin with AVE!

20)Batacorii have no picture and unit card

21)Peltastai when moved from Nikomedia to Byzantion have white unit cards.

22)Mega vasileios has "New EB Description" but all seems ok.

23)CTD 242BC

24)Able to construct and repair barbarian units in Tylis after conquest. No government building was there either mine or Getai.

25)When the cursor is over Getai units and towns it is Dacian.

26)Galatian Kluddolon repaired in Tylis although it was a mercenary unit (unlike the peltastai stated previously)

27. Defeat imminent in 240BC (Ptolemaioi)

28)On diplomatic screen the elutheroi have 2 icons and twice stated. Once with their old icon and once with a silver eagle???!!!

29)Great estate has Translate Plase! along with a small description.

30)CTD 239BC (4 Times)

31)CTD 238 (6 times)

32) 31 and 30 were CTD when the Ptolemies played.

33) I had enough for today...

I hope the above can help and provide info for corrections. If you find this helpfull I can post such accounts of all the different campaigns.
Until next time:dizzy2:

Here's some information about the AI multi-turn movement failed merge bug. Maybe somebody who knows more about this can figure out what's going on?

Anybody have any ideas or thoughts about this merging stacks = CTD bug? Seems to be happening a lot. I just had it in winter, 272, with my Baktria campaign. Two Roman armies tried to merge in the vicinity of Capua, and one stack kind of "bounced" back a step, like it wasn't able to merge, then the game CTD'ed.

Filemon didn't give any useful output.

[edit}
Could it have anything to do with this stuff in descr_skeleton.txt? We changed the models, but not the animations? Does it matter?

edit again:
Ok, I did it in slow-motion this time. I clicked 'End Turn' and let the pre-assigned multi-turn moves complete. What's happening, is that one army moves to the spot, and the other gets pushed back one step, just like when you move an army on top of a diplomat.

Showing the assigned movement:
https://img68.imageshack.us/img68/5745/0122mergectd0024iy.th.jpg (https://img68.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0122mergectd0024iy.jpg)

Captain starts moving:

Two stacks in same spot:

Other captain steps back:

He's finished stepping back, and now CTD occurs (you can see screen breaking up in bottom right corner):

There shouldn't be any problems with captains like that. I mean, you guys didn't/couldn't change anything regarding captains right? It looks as though they are acting like one of them is a diplomat or other nonarmy unit that is being displaced by an army.

While I'm here, there is a known bug with winning the Olympics (if your game crashes in the summer of 272, 268, 264, 260, etc, this might be the reason). To fix it (and possibly save your campaign), find your Data\text\export_VnVs.txt file and edit it, like so:

1. Search for "Olympionikes_effects_desc"
2. Everywhere you find something like this, add "+1 Influence" to the next line. It should look like this (there should be a blank line between +1 Influence and the gain_desc line):

{Olympionikes_effects_desc}
+1 Influence

{Olympionikes_gain_desc}

Found a couple of bugs in the germanic uniter trait for the Sweboz leader. The trigger conditions in export_descr_character_traits.txt have typos in the settlement names, gawjam_hattox (should be hattoz) and gawjam_kimbrioz (should be kimbroz). There is also a problem that after correcting the typos the description of the trait lists your leader as conqueror of the romans instead of uniter of the german tribes.

Thanks for pointing these out! I had caught the description, but not the trigger problems. Changing these triggers and the description are savegame compatible, for anybody who wants to play a Sweboz campaign and attempt to gain this "triumph" for their faction leader.

Not sure if this is an error or not. Or even if it is something you guys have tinkered with.

This picture is from a battle map somewhere in Italy.

I would guess that this is video-card related. I really don't think we've tinkered with anything on the battle map currently (other than units and banners).

Romans-> error in the Scripting that starts at the turn of 246 BC Summer-246 BC Winter. it forces it to the year of 14 AD. this ends a couple of turns later with the script returning the year back to about 244 BC This bug is known for causing an instant defeat for not acheiving the greatness of Augustus.

To fix this bug, just save before the bug begins, reload the saved game, and don't activate the EB Scripts until you are safely past the error.

The Eb team has a "real" fix posted for this somewhere, so you don't have to turn off the script. Im not sure where it is but Im sure TA or Mal could tell you where to find it. Its an easy coding fix.

Edit: I did a search and found a thread with it. This link is is the thread where they describe how to fix it nicely: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=58691&highlight=apocalypse

When playing as the Casse, after you have built the celtic heroes tomb (or warrior's tomb - i can't remember the name) the description in the next upgrade from it contains text that shouldn't be seen - it also doesn't seem to have a proper name either, just Multipurpose1 whatever that means.

Is there an easy fix that we can do before the patch that you posted somewhere and I missed it? Or will we have to wait for the patch for that trait to work right?

Adopted Roman generals are adopted as Equites Singulares units, and to make things worse, they appear with an over-100-strong escort, while the Equites Consulares faction leader is only 86-strong at most when I saw him. Seriously bugged/imbalanced? That singulares unit can take out almost any 5 units singlehandedly, i think, short of an enemy general's cavalry unit.

This concernes the merging stack ctd.
Ok, I played through about a hundred and fifty years (600 turns) . Most as baktria, but also the germanic tribes and rome. And I started five other campaigns but only playing for maybe 20 turns each (as part of this bug check)

Could it be that this CTD has its cause in the trait or ancillary system?

- I've noticed that stacks merge just fine within the first 15 turns or so (as long as they have not fought).
- I've noticed that the CTD only occurs when at least one stack has fought in sone of the previous turns.
- The "stepping back" is oddly similar to the fleet merging problem of admirals once they have ancilars or traits.

To put it bluntly: is the EB awarding traits or ancilaries to captains, who then cannot merge and a ctd happens?

Malrubius
02-01-2006, 17:50
I wish we could award traits to captains.

We could have done some amazing stuff then.

edit:
Fleets with admirals just can't merge, right? They don't CTD when you try to merge them. And if you manually merge the armies, there's no problem. I never saw any traits on these captains.

That comes from a corrupted install. There's a few threads started by Vae Victus about this error message around here.

Here's one:

Seems reinstalling RTW and manually installing the 1.2 patch will resolve this.

A couple bugs I've noticed (unsure if they've been addressed yet):

~The Seleukids display Roman banners in battle and above ungarrisoned cities, and the Romans display Seleukid banners above ungarrisoned cities.

~Playing as Baktria, when a Seleukid city rebels nearly all of their military units display an incorrect picture.

~As Baktria or Epeirus (I don't know if any other civs do this), in the construction browser only the first two rows of buildings can be selected. When you try to view the third row it scrolls back to the top.

~The Baktrians all have Roman voices.

~If you minimize and restore the game during a battle, the minimap background zooms out but not the units on it.

~Epeirite generals, diplomats, spies and assassins display the same uniforms as vanilla Thracia.

~As Baktria you can still see the Seleukid and Armenian LOS even after you declare war on them. Bug or feature?

~Every faction I've played starts out losing thousands of credits. Dubyu-tee-eff.

That's all for now. Vae victus.

This one is weird.

While playing as Pontos in the year 249 bc.I hit the end turn button and all of a sudden hit serious lag. When it eventually cycles through all the AI turns it is now the year 14 A.D. Again i have massive lag for any and all actions but i decide to act as if nought is wrong and play on. When i hit end turn again i get the message telling me i have lost the game.I decide to click on the continue playing button and all of a sudden it is 248 B.C as if nothing is wrong...........no more lag and 3 turns remaining in the year.

We've no idea what causes this one. It only occurs in some places, and on some cpu's and on some video cards. We have brand new rebel banners now though, so maybe it won't happen any more (but I doubt that it totally stops).

Yes that bug is well-known. It is the "apocalypse" bug, where the game fast forwards temporarily. There is a fix for it as well.
It can be found here:

Edit 2: A thread with all these little fixes show be put up so people who don't have the time or discipline can find them easy. Unless of course the patch is coming out really soon (puppy eyes).

I spotted this in the e_d_b.txt file at lines 18279 and 18280:

law_bonus bonus -1 requires factions { parthia, }
population_loyalty_bonus bonus -1 requires factions { parthia, }

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but they're listed in the Seleukid section of the type 4 governments. They may need to be moved to join the Parthian stuff (and I need to do some editing!). If they're supposed to be Seleukid, the first needs to be changed to { romans_julii, } and the second removed, as the Seleukid already have a -1 loyalty bonus.

I think there are some fairly universal errors in e_d_b regarding bonuses and penalties. Each number is typically supposed to represent 5 percentage points, correct? IE 1 = 5%, 2 = 10%, etc? Unfortunately some bonus tags exist where 1 = 1%, 2 = 2%, etc. For example, Ptolemaic gov type 3 gets a farm level bonus of +1 and a tax bonus of +2 - which is 2% - as opposed to 10%, which I presume it was supposed to be. This also applies to certain unit or building costs that provide discounts. I say "potential error" because it seems to break form with the rest of the game, as all VNVs I've encountered always use 5% increments.

Here are the specific tags that may or may not need to be altered to 1:1 instead of 1:5 per my verification of e_d_b--

taxable_income_bonus
construction_cost_bonus_religious
construction_cost_bonus_defensive
construction_cost_bonus_other

The following are also potentially incorrect, but as far as I know don't actually work regardless of what numbers you use, so you may want to replace them entirely with something that does--

construction_cost_bonus_military
construction_time_bonus_military

The good news is that this is an easy search/replace task if they do need to be changed.

Teleklos Archelaou
02-12-2006, 23:56
Yeah, you are correct. They should be 5% bonuses. I think qwerty is doing some overhauling of the govt bonuses though, so it might be best for us to let him know this and incoporate it into his new bonuses. thanks!

Playing Pontus, i've had a CTD in 250 5-6 times, with two different games. Not really sure why it happens, or if it has already been posted, but wanted to get it off my chest.

Apart from that, this mod rocketh. I just found it a little while ago, and it makes everything better. The amount of background on unit types is ridiculous, and makes the game awesome

Playing as the Romans I adopted a garrison commander into my family and noticed that his bodyguard was of equites singulares, instead of equites consulares.

Given that I have not encountered the Polybian Reforms yet I assume this is a bug, not some kind of feature (extremely forward-thinking general maybe? :)).

New guy here - hoping to be helpful.

Been playing Iberia. Encountered issues...

General (Faction Leader) has contrary traits e.g. "likes easy battles" AND "clearly victorious"

Currently CTD when I press END TURN summer 257 BC.

LordElrond

The "likes easy battles" trait refers to the ratio of forces that pops up before battle. This trait is obtained from fighting battles that are sided towards you heavily. I believe its been taken out in the patch. The "clearly victorious" trait refers to the amount of battles that general has won/lost. Anyways, both of those can coexist without conflicting as far as I know.
