General Shambles had arrived on the battlefield first, he spreadout his defences, making use of totomi's relatively flat terrain. His main force towards the bottom centre & right hand side of the map was complemented by a lethal, fast moving left hand side.

General Shingajin, marched across the map towards his rival. his force set up for the task in hand. His cavalry on the right hand side, rode high on their horses watching the defenders, as they cleared their throats for the song of war.

Muskets cocked and loaded, the front ranks of both armies set their worn sights upon the other.. General Shingajin sniffed the air, the grey clouds swamped the afternoon sky in a vein attempt at rainfall.. Although he felt the fatigue of his long march. The general, and his troops were energised by the bloodlust of their revolution, and their rebellion chants burnt savagely in their ronin hearts..

..The ground was soft, knowing a bloody battle was coming. It sat patiently, an eager audience for the theatre of war. For in the final act it would feast upon the corpses of fallen warriors, spawning new life in death..

General Shambles gave the signal, and began the exorcisim of the rebels from his lands.. His naginata cavalry charged down towards their enemies flank. Their war cries echo'd throughout the battlefield..

..The ground smiled..

..The thundering hooves of the naginata cavalry, stormed across Totomi's countryside.. General Shingajins forces cheered as the brave riders rushed past them like a typhoon. But their proud cheers where suddenley silenced by the wind of realisation...

The alarming realisation, that the cavalrys banners bore the mark of their enemy.

The ranged right flank of the rebel army was cut down by the Horse back warriors. In moments the ground was littered with still cocked muskets and savagly broken bodies, their blood tributary to this awesome manouver. General Shingaijin immediatley signaled his own cavalry to attack. The yari's of nearby samurai also charged into the fray.

Screaming out a victorious song of blood and death, the cavalry turned back towards their own line. Where, their comrades welcomed them with cheers..
..General Shambles knew it was to early to celebrate, but as his army shouted the heavens echoed their rejoicing..

The rejoicing calvalry were under pursuit.. General Shingajin's cavalry had spured their own horses into action. Their hearts wailing with swift revenge, the half beseark horsemen charged towards their bitter enemy, clutching their notched naginata tightly. These men of work, the rebel and ronin class could be just as honourable as their sophisticated brothers.

Recovering his musket line, General Shingaijin orderd the attack.

The heavens brightened and then turned black.. The air filled thick and heavy with the choking smoke of a thousand volleys..

The joyous deamons of meifumado danced gleefully across the field of battle, with encouraging eyes and tender flesh, they teased the wounded and the dying. A cresendo of pain burst from every casulty, adding tributary to the bloodcurdling score and slaughter that is; "The orchestra of the dammed".

End of chapter one

"The body is a vessel for the soul,
a puppet which bends to the souls tryanny,
and lo the body is not eternal,
for it must feed on the flesh of others,
lest it return to the dust whence it came,

Therefore must the soul; decieve, despise and murder men.."

Was quite frantic at the begining there arcade.
So i dont doubt you may have had a little bit of trouble keeping tabs on what was happening and who was doing what when, and why.

But your not doing badly at all.

Yes more to come..

but i will leave the top post now and begin chapter two in a new one.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, it was frantic throughout and it was a while ago, so dont expect it to be a complete blow for blow account of the battle. I shall do my best to keep the story interesting. Maybe throw in a love story? :laugh4:

Now i know how military historians must feel..:sweatdrop:
