Hi people!

Im looking after someone enough skilled to model and skin Gaels for Arthurian: Total War.
BTW we got modelers and skinners but they are currently too busy to do it.

But you will ask: what is so special with your Gaels?
We want them truly unique. Most depictions of dark ages Gaels are completly innacurate : just look at BI Celts. Gaels got a very particular warfare, and they would be very interesting to work on.

You may know that we got Ranika in the team. He is probably the better celtic specialist of the whole Total War community. And be sure that with him our - maybe yours - Gaels will be as accurate as possible.

There is a cruel lack of good concept art for Gaelic stuff. But we DO have some concepts. Here one, the Gaelic Tuanaghta.

I give you also an overview of some of our Gaelic unit descriptions:

Fennaguirran
(Horsemen with javelins (do not skirmish, throw before charging), long-handled axe, oval shield with flattened ends, padded coat, no helmet, lower enemy morale, in Connacht provinces only)
Description - Horses in Connaght are scant. Making due with what they have available, the Connaghta make use of their terrifying whoops and yells by coupling it with great speed. The confusion brought about by the sudden appearance of an ambushing force of Connaghta axemen on horseback is unsettling. Even seeing them approach can be horrifying. Rather than skirmish, some Connaghta horsmen serve as shock cavalry, and are great to augment cavalry of a Gaelic army, which is usually fairly light of horsemen. In particular among horsemen from COnnacht were the Fene, or Fenna drognan, or clan. These were the legendary originators of the Gaelic race, and were mostly at home in Connacht at this time.

Tuanaghta
(Axemen with heavy throwing spears, large round shield, leather helmet, and padded coat (Irish)/leather coat (Dal Riadans)) -
Description - The tua or tuagha (axe) is one of the oldest and most favored weapons of the Gaels. The Gaelic axe has a particularly weighty head, meant to crush helmets and smash shields. With it, like most Gaels carry, are carried two heavy throwing spears, thrown into an enemy position before a charge. The Gaelic axemen act as a kind of bridge between medium and heavy infantry.

Claiomhnaghta
(Mid-length swordsmen with javelins, large round shield, leather helmet, padded coat (Irish), leather coat (Dal Riadans)) -
Description - The claiomh, climh, or clom (sword) is an expensive weapon, but generally well made. Faster than an axe, and generally more wieldy than a spear, it allows the soldier using it to manuever into position for thrusts and slashes. The typical Gaelic sword is shorter than a longsword, but not quite a 'shortsword'. It generally has a leaf-shaped blade, meant to offer wide, sheering cuts, and devestating thrusts that open wide, gaping wounds. It is accompanied with a heavy Gaelic targe, and three light throwing spears; these spears are favored for swordsmen, so to enhance the mobility of these soldiers, but keep them able to fight in the traditional Gaelic manner.

Gaemornaghta
(Spearmen with long, two-handed spears (not actually pikes though), maybe use phalanx, or schiltron, leather helmet, padded coat (Irish), leather coat (Dal Riadans) -
Description - The Gaemor or Gaemhor (great spear) is a lengthy spear generally used in two hands. It is used in a tight formation as an anti-cavalry and anti-infantry measure; it is difficult to manuever past a wall of spear heads. While in use for centuries, this type of soldier grew increasingly more common among the Gaels as the dark ages and middle ages drove on; a response to the growing importance of cavalrymen on the field. These men are drawn from poorer classes of soldiers or militia.

Curadha
(Armored spearmen, with round shields, bronze or iron helmets, large-ring chain or scale armor, or a padded coat with a bronze chest disc, throwing spears, calf-length robe)
Description - Not all champions take up swords or axes. The most common champions, in fact, prefer the spear. A spear is a trustworthy weapon; easy to use, and can be mastered before one is nearly too old to fight in combat. These curadha (champions) are intended to inspire their fellows, and use their superior skills to create gaps in the enemy line. They are also likely the ones to start war songs and chants before battle, and usually accompany the first line of soldiers into the fight.

Fennacuradha
(In Connaght only, elite; two-handed axemen, knee-length shirt, bronze scale armor, no helmets, barefoot or shoes, sling bullet pouch, long cloaks, lower enemy morale, use a sling before charging)
Description - The Connaghta have a fearsome reputation, particularly the Fene or Fenna tribe, legendarily the first clan of the whole Gaelic race. Their chilling war cries and whoops are unnerving even to other Gaels, and has earned them a feared, otherworldly reputation. Even for elites in Connaght, the axe remains the favorite weapon. The truly powerful often use a long-handled axe in two hands in battle, using their great strength and terrifying presence. The Connaghta know they are feared. Many champions opt out of wearing helmets solely to ensure their face is exposed, because they know their enemies fear their faces. However, for all this, they also use the favored ranged weapon of Gaels. Rather than throwing javelins, they employ the longer range sling, and have used such tactics to ambush enemies in the past, as well as wear down foes before their attack.

And finally, the 3 Gaelic warriors we have made so far.
