So, have any of you got those fancy see through PC cases with neon lighting?

The extent of my PC modding is a few accidental tea and coffee stains on the front, and some stickers, one of which looks like the Intel Inside logo, but says Evil Inside.

I don't know that I'd call my PC modded, since it seems like every case has a window with light in it these days. But back when I built it, bling wasn't universal, so I felt semi-cool. Please ignore the pug:

Awww. The pug is soooo cute....

Got nothing on the subject though, unless you count the fact that I etched my name and residence onto my laptop.

I have a jagged edged hole in the side of my ultra cheap case for my jury-rigged fan.

I prefer the "looks like ass on the outside, decently fast on the inside" way of doing things.

Oh yeah, I also have two clear plastic fans-with-gay-lights sans gay lights in my case.

PPS: since my DVD writer came with the option, I swapped the beige front for the black so my case is a nice clean black

Ah ha...
I am not alone.

But I just take the case off my pc and throw it away.
seeing as i usualy run them in to the ground and things start burning out.
I need quick acces to the components, If i hope to salvage any parts of my pc's
Also it helps air circulation,
and dosent trap hot air in the pc,

My power supply and graphics card each came with LED's.....Other than that I have a fairly bland, though sleek and spacious tower.

Think Midi-Tower that once was beautifully Computer-grey
and has now turned into Cigarette-smoke-ivory.
Almost every slot is taken and on top of it sits my
receiver-amp that'c connected to the sound card.
On top of that sits my router and in between some USB-cables
stick out.
Inside I did some serious modding: I only give the cpu-fan half
of the regular power so it doesn't get on my nerves that much. :dizzy2:

I bought my brother a built-in ashtray and cupholder (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1104463&Sku=T925-1110&SRCCODE=GOOPROD&CMP=OTC-FROOGLE) for his PC a few birthdays ago. He installed it, and uses it daily. (He smokes.) His co-workers think it's hilarious. Sort of a strange mod.

It even comes with an igniter? :2thumbsup:
Arrgh. That's über-geeky! :inquisitive:
I think I'll stay with a generic ashtray/ table.

I've heard that leaving the case off too long is bad for the PC. Not to mention if you accidentally spill a drink, well....you're going to have an expensive piece of scrap metal and silicon.

Goodness/badness of leaving the case off depends on the airflow routing. If the case fans are designed to basically create a wind tunnel effect in the case (fans blowing in cold air on one side, fans blowing hot air out on the other), leaving the case off can possibly cause problems. Air movement is the key here. Some people just take the case off and point a desk fan at their computer, works fairly well as long as the CPU heatsink is sufficient. Dust might be an issue then, but it's an issue with unfiltered fans anyway.

For those with heat issues, here's my favorite case mod:

Probably a little loud though.:2thumbsup:

Dust is the bigest issue with having no case on your pc.

But having no case on means you see that Dust is accumilating and there for you can do something about it.
Where as dust also acumilates with the case on,
But you dont notice it has untill its 2 late.

however if your going to cool your pc properly.
Liquid cooled is the way to go.
RRP. Aprox $550.
